Overview
The Empire Reborn
domain -- generally regarded
as The Galactic Empire's most prominent location on the HoloNet -- it is not an
island unto itself but a central hub which branches out to a vast array of
supporting websites ("HoloNet Sites")... These range from single-officer profile
pages, to special interest sites, to those which represent an entire division of
the Empire.
Such sites add much more definition to the various facets and individuals
within the Imperial forces, but it is often overlooked that each can play an
important role in extending the Empire's reach to all corners of the Holonet:
increasing both the profile and ranks of The Galactic Empire.
This chapter sets forth the basic criteria expected of sites that officers
wish to be considered "GE-related", and also contains further suggestions to all
GE webmasters.
General Policies
All GE-related sites are expected, at minimum...
- To ensure their content remains within the good standards of
Imperial Law.
- To feature a link to "The Galactic Empire" (http://www.empirereborn.net/).
It is most advantageous to generating interest in the GE if a sentence in the
site's introductory page also states this affiliation, however any
prominently-placed link is sufficient.
In addition, all officers are encouraged to...
- Link to any Empire Reborn domain pages that they feel may enhance the
quality of their site. Central resources such as the official rosters and
GE Officer Profiles have been established for
the convenience of the Imperial forces, and sites may prefer to link to them
directly rather than attempt to upkeep a local copy.
- Feature "Join the Empire" links to the GE Recruiting Office (http://www.empirereborn.net/join.php)...
This assists direct recruitment, and may result in the occasional unexpected
medal award. Webmasters of all but the largest GE sites may legitimately request
that new visitors cite them as their recruiter, if they elect to join the
Empire.
- Submit their site to several major Holonet search engines. This is the
fastest way to easily increase publicity for the website, and the GE.
Due to bandwidth considerations, the only Empire Reborn links that officers
are asked not to establish are those which point directly to binary files (such
as pictures, ZIP files, simulations, etc)... Uniform templates, unit banners,
and other files that may be distributed within the GE should be copied to one's
own webspace for display. In all other cases, sites should link to the Empire
Reborn page that features the file, not the file itself.
Unit Policies
In addition to the above General Policies, sites established to
represent units of the Empire are expected to feature, at minimum...
- A link to the official Empire Reborn URL of their
parent Division. As with linkage to the Empire Reborn
itself, it is most advantageous if the site's introductory text also states this
affiliation, however any prominently-placed link is sufficient.
- Information on the unit's current statistics, including motto, banner, and
membership information. (This may be accomplished simply by linking to the
unit's official roster on the Empire Reborn domain,
however some units may elect to upkeep a copy of the information locally.)
Unit websites -- and particularly those of the "smaller" Task Units -- also
have the opportunity to play an even more effective role in bridging the
Empire's network of sites, by opting to extend linkage not only to the above
resources, but to the sites of their more immediate parent units and the works
of their subordinate members.
