The Galactic Empire: An Empire Reborn
Imperial Officers' Manual
Major Revision: 2.0 – 2008.10.31
An adaptation of the pre–Endor document and policies.

Service Medals are highly regarded medals, carrying with them a fixed standard of what services each is awarded for. Some Service Medals need be requested by superior officers; others are automatically awarded by the Empire once an officer has performed specific services.

Imperial Star [IS]

As compared to its Merit Medal variant, the Service Medal variant of the Imperial Star has a related but different use... Recipients of this medal must have represented themselves and The Galactic Empire in offical multiplayer combat with another online organization. First time recipients of this variant will be awarded with the medal itself as well as a single pin, denoting a single online representation of The Galactic Empire. Subsequent representations will earn the recipient another pin, up until five pins. Achieving this, the recipient will be awarded with the Bronze Imperial Star (thus replacing the base version). After another five pins, the recipient will recieve the Silver version, and after another ten, the recipient will recieve a Gold variant. Lastly, for a total of forty representations, a prestigious Platinum Imperial Star will awarded. After that, each 40 representations will earn another Platinum Imperial Star.

This medal's battle usage is reflected within its design; it possesses a celestial body (star), contains the colours of Imperial warships in the dead of space (white on black), and displays a prominent green stripe representative of an Imperial laser blast.

The Imperial Star is unique in that is is both a Merit Medal and a Service Medal... For information on the merit medal variant, see the Merit Medals chapter of this guide.

Imperial Victory Cross [IVC]

The Imperial Victory Cross was created on 2001–11–03 to prominently credit combat–competition related victories... Its sister–medal, the Imperial Victory Medal, is issued in non–combat competitions. Prior to its creation, the Medal of Merit and Bronze Seal were commonly used as first and/or second place awards in all forms of competition; however, this usage of Merit Medals is being deprecated.

The basic Imperial Victory Cross, when awarded, is always accompanied by one of two devices: Wings or Leaves, representing aerial and ground combat, respectively. Each device is available in four variants – Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum – making for a diverse, eight–fold medal.

The Imperial Victory Cross with Bronze, Silver, or Gold Wings/Leaves may be awarded by any officer hosting a competition; however, the competition and the variants of this medal being issued must be pre–approved by the appropriate Division Commander.

Medal VARIATIONS:

  • Imperial Victory Cross, Bronze Wings [IVC–BW]

Academy Award For Excellence (Historical) [AAEH]

The historical version of the Academy Award for Excellence recognises the work put in for completion of Academy Courses pre–Rebirth, where scores are not available.

Academy Award For Excellence (Historical)

Academy Award For Excellence [AAE]

The Academy Award for Excellence reflects members' performance in exams from the Imperial Academy. Because exams vary widely in the skills that they test, Awards for Excellence do not indicate superior skill in any one area, but rather serve to reflect general distinction in academic matters. The reward for any completed exam is first and foremost the knowledge gained, but the Award for Excellence serves to indicate that an officer has taken the time to educate himself especially well while in the service of the Empire.

Recipients of this award must have completed an exam at the Academy with high marks, with the variations of the award corresponding to the mark earned. Each exam so passed is indicated with pips on the award, which are updated according to academic performance. This flexibility reflects the fact that learning is an active process, and serves to encourage officers to make use of the Academy's resources to continue to expand their knowledge in.

Medal VARIATIONS:

  • Academy Award of Excellence, Bronze Bar [AAE–BG]
For scoring 85%–89% on an Imperial Academy written exam.
  • Academy Award of Excellence, Silver Bar [AAE–SB]
For scoring 90%–94% on an Imperial Academy written exam.
  • Academy Award of Excellence, Gold Bar [AAE–GB]
For scoring 95%–99% on an Imperial Academy written exam.
  • Academy Award of Excellence, Platinum Bar [AAE–PB]
For scoring 100% on an Imperial Academy written exam.

Long Service Medal [LSM]

Full–fledged members of the Galactic Empire – be they military, political, or otherwise – are the lifeblood of its continued struggle to restore law and order to the galaxy. However, the battle is not always external, as the remnant of a once–great Empire struggles to expand its forces in the face of many who become casualties of war or move on from their Imperial career.

The Long Service Medal (formerly the Medal of Longstanding Service) was created to reward what is often an unsung service: continued steadfast loyalty in the face of adversity. It is awarded in increments reflecting whole years of service, based on the galactic standard year of 365.25 days. The design of a thirteen–pointed starburst with the Imperial seal at its core is fashioned to be reminiscent of archaic time–keeping pieces of years past.

The medal is never worn simply as [LSM], but always as [LSM–xS] where x is the number of full years an officer has served. The LSM is first awarded at the one year mark of an officer's service to the Empire.

NOTES:

  1. The LSM is only available to those with full officer status within the Galactic Empire.
  2. The LSM is awarded automatically to officers in active service, shortly after they have completed a qualifying term.
  3. Only time spent in ACTIVE service counts towards the LSM.

Medal of Combat [MoC]

In days past, Imperial policy was to award pilots with a medal for each battle they fought... This worked for a time, but as the Empire grew (and more pilots returned due to shielded craft!), it created the ill side–effect of dress uniforms sporting a gaudy amount of metal.

In light of this, the Galactic Empire has implemented a new standard. A single medal – the Medal of Combat – will be the only award solely for mission completions. Available in increasingly elaborate variations, this single medal can accurately represent a pilot's total victories.

NOTES:

  1. Only GE custom missions count towards the MoC.
  2. The MoC is based on total missions flown... One battle of five missions and three standalone missions will count for eight missions combined.
  3. Battles must be completed in full to obtain credit... You cannot complete only two missions of a five–mission battle and get your record credited for two missions.
  4. The Medal of Combat is automatically awarded to qualifying officers shortly after their mission completions are processed.

Medal VARIATIONS:

  • Medal of Combat [MoC]
    For completing 5 missions.
  • Medal of Combat, Single Stripe [MoC–1S]
    For completing 20 missions.
  • Medal of Combat, Double Stripe [MoC–2S]
    For completing 40 missions.
  • Medal of Combat, Triple Stripe [MoC–3S]
    For completing 70 missions.
  • Medal of Combat, Quad Stripe [MoC–4S]
    For completing 100 missions.
  • Medal of Combat, Quin Stripe [MoC–5S]
    For completing 150 missions.
  • Medal of Combat, Hex Stripe [MoC–6S]
    For completing 200 missions.
  • Medal of Combat, Hept Stripe [MoC–7S]
    For completing 300 missions.
  • Medal of Combat, Oct Stripe [MoC–8S]
    For completing 500 missions.
  • Medal of Combat, Non Stripe [MoC–9S]
    For completing 750 missions.
  • Medal of Combat, Dec Stripe [MoC–10S]
    For completing 1000 missions.

Medal of Combat

Medal of Tactics [MoT]

This medal is awarded for the design of official Imperial Navy Simulations, and derives its name from the concept that those who design battle scenarios are 'tacticians'. This medal's purpose is also reflected in the ribbon design of a cross, symbolic of the cross–hairs in a gunsight...

The GE's definition of 'mission' mirrors that of the TIE Fighter game platform. Creating five Simulations consisting of single missions, and creating a single Simulation consisting of a five–mission 'battle', are of equal value toward the Medal of Tactics.

The Medal of Tactics is automatically awarded to qualifying officers shortly after the official posting of their mission(s).

Medal VARIATIONS:

  • Medal of Tactics [MoT]
For the design of 1 mission.
  • Medal of Tactics, Bronze Grade [MoT–BG]
For the design of 5 missions.
  • Medal of Tactics, Silver Grade [MoT–SG]
For the design of 10 missions.
  • Medal of Tactics, Gold Grade [MoT–GG]
For the design of 20 missions.
  • Medal of Tactics, Platinum Grade [MoT–PG]
For the design of 50 missions.

Medal of Expansion [MoX]

Recruiting officers into the Empire is one of the most highly praised services, and will be rewarded accordingly with the Medal of Expansion. The medal was titled "expansion", as its recipients may take pride in the fact that they personally helped in building the Empire's manpower. Such weight is placed upon this service that the medal bears the design of an Eagle spreading, or expanding its wings – the representative symbol of Emperor Palpatine himself!

NOTES:

  1. The MoX applies only to the recruitment of Imperial citizens into a full division of the Galactic Empire (such as the Imperial Navy). Enrollment in an institution (such as the Imperial Academy) does not, in itself, qualify as a recruit for the purposes of this medal.
  2. Recruits are asked to specify their recruiter on appropriate forms while in the Imperial Academy. If they neglect to do this, they may confirm the identity of their recruiter, via e–mail, with Academy staff and/or the Supreme Commander.
  3. The Medal of Expansion (or appropriate upgrade) is automatically awarded to a qualifying officer upon the instatement of their recruits as full officers of the Empire. This occurs after Imperial Academy training (where applicable), and recruiters are encouraged to stay in contact with their recruits during the training process.

Medal VARIATIONS:

  • Medal of Expansion [MoX]
For the recruitment of 1 officer.
  • Medal of Expansion, Bronze Grade [MoX–BG]
For the recruitment of 5 officers.
  • Medal of Expansion, Silver Grade [MoX–SG]
For the recruitment of 10 officers.
  • Medal of Expansion, Gold Grade [MoX–GG]
For the recruitment of 20 officers.
  • Medal of Expansion, Platinum Grade [MoX–PG]
For the recruitment of 50 officers.
