The rank of Ensign (EN) signifies an individual with full "commissioned officer" status, and is afforded to the highly-qualified pilots who have met the Imperial Navy's training requirements... Ensigns act as "wingmen" in the starfighter squadrons of the Imperial Navy and junior staff officers aboard support ships... With as many as nine wingmen per squadron of twelve pilots and four junior officers per support ship, Ensign is the most widely-held naval rank on any vessel of the Imperial fleet. |
