Position Description
The Brigade XO is the second in command of a Brigade, and primary assistant to the Brigade CO, assuming command if the CO would go on LOA. The Brigade XO holds the rank of Captain (CPT) and can be promoted to Major (MAJ) after long and dedicated service.
An XO and his CO may be thought of as two sides of a coin... While the CO typically acts as the proxy between his brigade and the rest of the Empire (and is the highest level of review for all routine operations within), the XO is an internal supervisor of companies.
Such supervision includes maintaining continuous contact with all subordinate Company COs, and the double-edged duty of recommending both awards and corrective action to their Brigade CO, where such may be warranted. An XO is also the primary level of response for routine matters and/or questions voiced by company COs, or other officers within the brigade who may be having difficulty contacting their commanding officer.
