GE Fleet Memo 30/08/04

(1) What is the GE:ER?
What is the GE:ER? Why are you a member of it? What does it mean to be a member of it? I think these questions have been raised recently by messageboard activity and the High Command. I believe they need to be discussed, and they will be here. Perhaps you think the GE:ER is just a fan club for Star Wars gamers. That's not totally true. For some time now, I have been disturbed by the lack of due respect to other officers, the lack of respect to authority, and the lack of role play. We are not just a social gaming club. We are role playing military organisation based around some Star Wars games and thus I think it is long overdue that we realise this. Therefore I'd like to propose the following:

- That all officers read over the following items from the GE Manual:

- "General Communications" http://databank.empirereborn.net/index. ... unications
and also perhaps these two items:
- "Holosite Policies" http://databank.empirereborn.net/index. ... tePolicies
- "Galactic Empire Structure" http://databank.empirereborn.net/index. ... eStructure

I'd like to see the club return to the state of role play as it once was: various examples include showing due respect with <salutes> on mIRC or AIM to start conversations with senior officers, and also to watch the language used in open forums. Being a member of this club means that you follow these guidelines. It is with distaste that I see daily on the messageboards messages that either cause unrest between members, undermine the High Command or contain / imply unsuitable topics or language. If that is what you wish to do with you time, I ask you kindly to rethink your position in this club. If you lack the ability to follow basic club rules then I would again consider your position carefully. I make a final point that this is not an attack on humour, for good natured humour is welcome - but please, not at the expense of others who may not see it that way. Careful judegement goes a long way in staying the right side of going over the top. However, it needs to recognised that sometimes it is just there for humour and things need to be accepted with a smile. If all officers mind their words a little more, then perhaps we can stop having to concentrate on the inside of our club, and reach out to expand our membership which is something that really does need to be addressed.

(2) Operation Reforger begins!

(3) Heros of the Empire Honoured!
Several Officers who now find themselves in High Command positions have been around for a long time. They have seen both the good, the bad, the old and the new days of the Empire. They have supported the Empire with they time, effort and advice. Under the leadership of Grand Admiral Daemon, they supported him and carried out his orders. Under my leadership they have done the same, and stood by me throughout this troublesome period. It is within my power therefore to award the following officers the Legion of Palpatine...

Rear Admiral T. Fel
Line Captain P.D. Calder
ISB-General T. Rala
General J. Jansen
Major General Orzon

(4) Official banners page opened
Official banners for the GE can now be found at http://empirereborn.net/extb.php. Please use these on your site, and try to get our name out to other places. We need new members (remember that 200 points are given to each new member recruited (and later graduates) during the competition). If anyone would like to submit banners, I ask them to be 468x60 pixels large, and to sent to myself - during the competition they can also accrue points.I will look over them and if I deem the suitable, then I shall upload them. Also the GE:ER has joined the SW Combine Banner Exchange program in order to get more members, please all visit http://www.empirereborn.net/er.php a few times a day, as for each display of a banner here we get one display of a banner somewhere else.

(5) Combat ladders
Fierce competition has been seen so far on the Combat Ladders for XWA - keep up the hard work. At time of writing, EF Stark is leading with a huge total of 110 points, with LT Solidis behind him at 76 points.There is still time to take part, as the ladders run until the 17th of September. I wish all pilots good luck in their combat duels!

Admiral, in some of the databank-links there are still references to GA Daemon, shouldnÂ´t they be replaced with your name?

I have two questions Admiral. One, do you prefer to be called Admiral, or Supreme Commander? Also, what is the current IRC board? The one on the archives was to the Imperial Nexus, so the link didn't work.

There are a lot of updates that need to be done to the manual. We do not have a registered channel at the moment. We still use #Galactic_Empire.

Admiral is fine, Supreme Commander is really a title I use just for offical messages.

Unfortuately, the IRC page seemed to disappear (I thought someone was going to edit a page for me...) so I shall have to raise this up. Quick details are:

(1) Find a suitable client, or go to the java IRC applet on undernet.org
(2) Log onto the Undernet IRC network
(3) Join the channel #galactic_empire to get started

I will also point out that you said "lieutenant and sub-lieutenant". Actually, La Forge is a commander and LPM was a lieutenant. You're behind the times.
