#1. Combat Ladder Results Annouced!

It brings me great joy in being able to annnouce the results from the first set of offiical ladders in the GE for quite a while. Most disappointing is that the only matches played were on the Navy platform ladders, even though people had signed up to the others. The winners this time are being awared the Imperial Victory Cross, of various levels depending upon ladder activity. Without further ado, the results are as follows:

=== XvT Ladder ===
We award medals to the top two players in this ladder, as not a huge amount of matches were played.
1st place: LT Splatter who receives [IVC-BW]
2nd place: EN Russell who receives [MoM]

=== XWA Ladder ===
This ladder saw much more activity, and so medals are awarded to the top three pilots!
1st place: LT Phantom who receives [IVC-SW]
2nd place: LT Splatter who receives again the [IVC-BW]
3rd place: CM La Forge who also receives the [IVC-BW]

Congratulations to all who participated - to get your name here, just win matches on the ladders, do visit http://www.empirereborn.net/combat.php and click on ladders. You'll even find my name appear every now and then - challenge me and you might just beat me (no extra medals though!) They are open again and the next session runs preliminaryly until 2004-08-01.

#2. Combat Chamber reopened!

It is my pleasure to annouce that the Empire Reborn Combat Chamber has reopened. You can reach it through http://www.empirereborn.net/combat.php by clicking it's name. All the missions from the GE are installed an uploaded, with a nice amount of info about them as well. There may be listings where there are names missing as there are some of the older members of the GE whose profiles are not present in the database. These will be added as time progresses. The only issue with this is that there is no Flight Performance Report Processor (FPRP) in order to record your progress as yet - this will be recified as soon as possible. The coding for this will take a while, but I hope to get it done as soon as I can. In the meanwhile, I suggest you just download more simulations and play them :-)

#3. Basic Activity Policy & Communications

We all know that activity makes the ER better - those who have been a member a long time will know that in the past, the were successful competitions and also lots of applicants when promotions and positions became available. We are also short of command staff, and positions like the Navy Fleet Commander are not filled. For the club to be better, it needs your efforts - did you not sign up so that you could talk to other enthuiastic people and SW Imperials? In order to get this going, we have several communication systems at our disposal; the primary system is of couse email: you should be in contact with you fellow unit members regularly, and if you don't hear from them, let someone else know. If you don't hear from your unit commanders, let the people higher up in the chain of command know and they will be replaced by someone who can do the job. Never feel that you cannot even email myself; my door is always open.

Aside from email there are three other main forms of communication that we have - the first is AIM - AOL Instant Messenger. The screennames of the squadron members are listed on the website on the rosters and in their profiles. You can go to the right page for your country at http://www.aol.com/aim. The software is free, and allows you to take part in instant conversations. It's a handy tool that everyone should really have. The second is IRC, internet relay chat. The GE has a page for this, although currently it has not moved to the new domain. You can read all about this at the irc page on the ER site, http://www.empirereborn.net/irc.php (this will appear shortly, it may not be there for a few days). The third and final official communication tool is the messageboards, located at http://www.empirereborn.net/holonet. Registration here is free, and takes a few minutes. No software is required to download either. It's a discussion forum where our club joins in group disucssions - a valuable place to be a member. I make a recommendation that everyone gets registered; this is perhaps the second more important communication tool after email.

In regards to activity, I hereby am announcing a drastic change in policy. At the moment, basic membership requires that you respond to emails at least in a 30period. With effect from now, this requirement is now reduced to 10 days. This should not have a too drastic effect on anything, but it helps bring the club together. I must stress that failure to respond to emails will result in the automatic removal of yourself to the reserves. It is highly encouraged that you respond as fast as you can to emails so as not to run such a risk. Special notice is given for AWOL checks - they are taken periodically in order to test email accounts and your response. Please respond to them as soon as the email arrives, it only takes a short message to confirm your status. If you are planning on being away for a period of time, let your unit commander know and then you will not be moved to the reserves.

Please note that the higher your rank to more active you are expected to be; those officers who hold ranks similar to that of Naval SubLieutenants are expected to have a messageboard account (posting non-spam messages) and also responding to emails with 4-5 days. For unit commanders, it should be expected that you have a AIM account and the above. When more than one person is going for a promotion, these sorts of things will be taken into account.

#4. Imperial Archives is live and growing

The Imperial Archives located at http://databank.empirereborn.net are slowly growing with information. Make sure you take a look, and add your personal bio as per the instructions. Feel free to add more as well, it's a tool for everyone to use.

#5. Imperialnexus.net hosting expires

A sad day has come that the Imperialnexus.net has finally lost it's hosting plan. I am going to attempt to get the domain to point to our website, although this may not be possible. Stay tuned!

Thats all of my news for the moment. As always do not hesitate to contact me should the need arise.
Long Live the Empire!
