Lucasfiles.com has gotton hold on a patch for TIE 95 that allows you to run it sucessfully on WinXP with the 3d accelleration enabled.

As far as I remember somebody DID talk about this patch a couple of months ago, but I do not know where or who it was. It might have been on the IS boards.

I am currently trying to get it running on my win2k, but it won't run, even with the walkaround provided in the readme file. So, I am currently talking to the guy who made it to find a way to get it to work right.

Admiral Polanski, would it be possible for you to host this (and other patches) on ER.net, similar to what Daemon did? That would make it easy for people to find and get them.

i haven´t tried the patch till now as i´m busy with other games.
anybody already got it to work under XP??

Well, I fiddled with the file according to the stuff in the readme (that is I downloaded that compatibility programm 3.0 and changed all the stuff I am supposed to change). The problem is that now I get a message telling me that this and that library is missing.

Ok, got it to work after a bit of fiddling around with it. The important thing is (if you are a win2k user) that you need to install the *entire* "Microsoft Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit". Otherwise you are missing important files (allthough you only need to use the Compatibility Editor 3.0 - which is why I only installed that part of the toolkit, instead of everything!).

It works fine now, 3D is good, now all I need is USB joystick support because my only gameport stick is half-dead :P

Does anybody here have problems with accessing the film room?

I just found my old *.tfr file (back from 98) and wanted to play the missions from the collectors CD ROM (I only finished all the original and the "Defender of the Empire" missions, as I never owned the CD ROM version) and when I went to the Battleroom, it only displayed "View Cutscenes" (allthough I SHOULD be able to enter the next mission) and then booted me back to Windows.

Zwib said she always had that happen to her with 98 and 2k. Any other comments?

One thing I found with the Film Room is that FLMs from the DOS version of TIE don't always work properly (and the other way round).

What I'd really love is a way of converting a FLM directly to AVI or MPEG - although I suspect this is not possible without illegally reverse-engineering the game! The current way is using FRAPS and recording it like that - very slow and unwieldy but also works in XWA's film room (at 640x480 for the free version, at least).

Ok, one more note for all of you who use this, apparently you can NOT use 3D AT ALL.
I noted that many people used 3D and have problems and now I read on a forum on one of the many Xwing series game pages online, that 3D is theoretically possible, but screws up most of the time under 2k/XP/2k3.

Does anybody here use 3D with TIE95? If yes, what operating system and graphics card are you using?
