Attack on the Academy 1

Chapter 1: The Academy


Tolan sat on his cot, looking at the holo of the attractive twi’lek dancer, her body moving to some alien rhythm that he’d never heard before.
“Hey, Tolan, where’d you get that, buddy?” Gynn called, the huge man, rolled over, looking at the holo, “Never saw thatone before.”
“Bought it off Kage, he was selling in for 5 creds.”
“That cheap? Must be something wrong with it then, no one like Kage would sell that for that-“
An explosion rocked the Academy.
“What the-“
Another explosion.
“All cadets report to group leaders, all cadets report to group leaders, this is not a… I repeat this is a drill!” called the gruff voice of the drill sergeant on the intercom.
Tolan and Gynn leapt out of their cot, the other cadets around them were waking up too, moaning and cursing. The two ran for the doo, strapping on their belts as they went. Gynn was out first and saw 12 republic troopers swarming down the hall.
“We got company, guys!” he shouted, leaping back into the room to avoid the blaster fire. He and Tolan whipped out their blasters, as soon as the door opened, gunfore was everywhere. Several of the troopers and several of the cadets fell to the ground, screaming in agony.
“Give me some cover, Gynn,” Tolan whispered to Gynn ad they hid behind an upturned cot.
“Ok, go, Tolan!”
Tolan ran. Gynn’s blaster fire hit several of the front republic troops and Tolan shot one or two down too. He hopped behind another cot and then scurried along the ground to the third. Here he rolled over, grabbed the thermal detonator he’d stolen form the armory on a dare from Gynn and threw it. The room shook and the gunfire stopped. Looking over his smoking cot, he saw the charred doorway, no emptied by the explosion.
“Let’s go guys, I don’t know where Kage is but it don’t matter, we’re getting out of here, let’s go,” he told the ten men that lay about the room, most quivering from their first real action, “How many down?”
“Three, Bors, Hich, and Milo,” Gynn said, looking at the dead cadets, dragging them to the far side of the room, “Course, most of us are a bit scorched too, but we’ll be fine.”
The ten men ran down the hallway, looking left and right, fearing more troops to appear at any second. they made it to the mess hall without a problem, here a bigger struggle was still raging. Drill Sergeant O’Leer and the main body of instructors along with groups 1, 2, and 3 had barricaded the far door, republic troops were hiding behind upturned tables, returning fire. There were at least 50 Republic troops in the room.
“Ok team, here goes nothing, we open fire, their backs are turned to us, then we run back towards our dorm, and hold up in there, that will give sarge some wiggling room, so he can get out with most of the others, got it?” Tolan ordered. Then, he began to open fire on the Republic troops, they quickly turned and the chase was on. Tolan knew they could outrun the Republic troops, he also knew that the Imperials in the place had a home field advantage, nothing could go wrong.
As they rounded the next corner, though, still looking back, shooting at the troops chasing them, they ran right into a second group of Republic troopers, and they looked like they’d been waiting for some time.
“Drop your weapons, you’re surrounded,” sneered the Rebel leader.
“Of all the bloody things! Ok, we’re outnumbered, drop ’em,” Tolan ordered. Then out from the shadows came Kage.
“I’d knew you’d take charge, a pity, you showed such promise, but know you’ll be in a republic prison for a long time,” came the sneery voice, “Yes, I’m a rebel and I hate the Empire, so here’s my payback. I, Kage, will be famous for sacking the Imperial Academy!” he laughed, and at that moment, Tolan felt that Kage might actually be right.

Its good to see recruits actually trying to get through the academy. I wish you had gone Navy because I need someone like you to add to my collection of... nevermind. Well good luck i'm sure you will graduate soon.
