Chief Engineer's Report : 03.03.06

Again, it's been a little while since I've done this. Oops.

Work on the Mission Converter is done, all three conversions are supported now. If anyone notices a problem when using it please notify me. I've finished another utility for me to use in patch creation, and I've also updated the PilotViewer after the incident with Semm. Now has multiple anti-cheating features with appropriate error messages. What sets them off is my secret ;-)

Alright, so now begins the task of actually creating ships. I've started pulling my records on the subject, and will begin actual testing shortly. Early models will be remakes so I have something to compare to and see how they handle. Another idea is to include squadron patches for FG colors. Anyone one else like this idea? Once the base skin is finished it's easy to add the FG colors.

Report's a little short for such a period of time, I know, but sith happens. I'm trying to do a lot here, and not kill my grades at the same time.

=====================
Updates:

-2/19 - Converter completed

-3/03 - GEPV updated to include more anti-cheat functions.

=====================
R&D:

-(All) Patch - Whatever ships are requested for development.

Chief Engineer's Report: 04.29.06

(Insert random line about taking too long between reports)

As I said in my previous report, ship creation was to begin shortly. And it has. Since the creation of the IDMR, I have been calling for ships that pilot would like to see in-game, and so far I have received only one request; the Trade Federation Droid Control Ship. Almost 3.2 klicks in diameter, it has two very large hangars, and enough turbolaser batteries to keep you alert ;) It is currently a very basic model, but when development gets to a more recognizable point, I will begin to post screenshots so you can spy on my progress.

The other additioin to the IDMR recently is Muscat's PLTReviewer. Actually around for a while, I finally got around to asking to host it here on the IDMR site, since I like it more than the console thing I created and checks all formats as well (yes, it's called PLT Reviewer, but it does do TFRs).

Probably won't do reports for a while, especially since I've only got the ship to work on. Expect updates to be mainly on the MBs.

=================
Updates:

-4/29 - PLTReviewer added

=================
R&D:

-(All?) Craft - Trade Fed Droid Control Ship.

Chief Engineer's Report: 08.05.06

Four months between reports. Awesome :P

Most of the work being done right now is behind the scenes; programs and research for future projects, generic research, as well as work on the TF ship I'm slowly working on.

Anyone who's downloaded XWA simulations recently has noticed that the packaging format has changed. The packaging standards now match those of TIE and XvT, so you can just extract it to your XWA directory, and use a new pilot file.

The IDMR's PilotViewer program has been updated to reflect this change, but only in the .NET build. I've reached the point where converting it to c++ is a royal pain in the arse, especially after I found out a lot of the code has been depreciated, and requires rewrites in many places using an "above-crappy" compiler. As such, expect to see mostly .NET applications. These days it's easy to get if you don't have it already, and unless you've got dialup, the download is reasonable and can be left overnight if need be.

For the Navy, I'm offering free upgrades, including cup holders and stereos. Nothing like vaping Rebs to heavy metal :wink: I'm also working out the kinks in the foot heater I installed into my own fighter, and whenever that gets worked out I'll start doing installs for others as well.

===

Updates:
6/11 - PilotViewer updated, XWA code adjusted, allows for battles

===

R&D:
- Secret program. Those that know about it do :wink:
- Trade Fed Control Ship: Left "arm" is almost done, minor work within the hangar tunnel needs to be done, secondary bay opening, grapple are left. Center engine section will be next. Arm pic
- Some work done about having gunner-flyable positions in craft such as the ISD for MP purposes, but I admit I haven't worked on it recently.

===

I'm still working, I haven't forgotten or anything. If someone else has something they'd like, there's nothing like a long to-do list to make me work faster :P

Chief Engineer's Report : 11.12.07

Okay, so these definitely haven't been written in a long time. Looks like a year and a half. So I've been busy :-P

For the first time, officers can now download the current YOGEME build instead of just looking at screenshots. Yes, it does actually exist! Doesn't do briefings yet, and the map interface is more of a display than anything else, but everything else works (as far as I can tell). Eventually I'll put together a readme, now that potentially other people will be at least toying with it.

Work on the TF Control Ship has slowed, mainly due to the work I've been putting into YOGEME and other utilities. I've made a couple other programs that I won't be publishing as they are for my use as I dig deeper into the workings of the games.

Also sometime in the future I'll be publishing file format documentation regarding mission and resource files. When enough of the resources are decoded, it will be possible to completely reskin TIE. Beause I'm working on the TIE95 portion of YOGEME, my work has been concentrated on TIE for now, but XvT and XWA will have their turn...

====================================================================
Releases:
- YOGEME beta for TIE
- TIE File Reader - small utility for string editing
-Mission Verify - another small utility that checks missions for common errors, all platforms

====================================================================
Updates:
-11/11 - IDMR site uploaded to ER.net
-7/2 - GEPV updated to include dropzone
-6/11 - GEPV updated to include more anti-cheat functions.
-6/10 - S-Foils patch updated, also to check Registry for path, I believe (it's been a while)
-6/8 - Shields patch and ISD Laser patch updated for some reason, I believe to check install paths in Registry

====================================================================
R&D:

-(XWA) - Trade Federation Droid Control Ship
-(All) Utility - YOGEME map interface
-(All) Patch - Whatever ships are requested for development.

====================================================================
We'll see how ofte updates are, just know that I'm still working away in my lab ;-)

Chief Engineer's Report: 2008.12.09

Here comes another yearly IDMR report!

Let's see, lot of progress on YOGEME since the last report, a handful of other projects have started or at least made the drawing board in that time as well. The TIE portion of YOGEME is effectively done, only minor things like the Formations Dialog and Backdrops aren't implemented, but that's going to wait until I've finished the other platforms. As of this writing the main interface for XvT is built and I'm in the middle of writing the procedure to load XvT mission files. I've set aside my other open projects after a break from YOGEME so I'm trying to get this update done rather quickly.

Work on the TF Control Ship has slowed even more, effectively halting progress. I moved the model out of 3D Studio and into Blender with minor data loss and corruption in the progress, as such any work I had on the bridge was lost, and the pieces had to be reassembled correctly again. I simply don't have enough time to do the large amount of programming I have on the to-do list as well as continuing significant progress on 3D models. Maybe it's something I can return to at a later time, but I don't expect to work on it much any time soon.

File format documentation has come a long way, and aside from fleshing out the documents a little more, mission files are complete as well as most of the TIE resource files. I have documentation for pilot files, but for security reasons they will not be posted on the holosite.

This should be rather lengthy, so let's get started...
====================================================================
Releases:

-10/31 - LFD Image Reader - Displays images and animations from TIE95 .LFD Resource files
-8/18 - EaW Simulation Install Help Video
-12/15/07 - TIE Sound Extractor - Exports and imports WAV files for TIE9
====================================================================
Updates:

-12/2 - TIE File Reader update, LFD Image Reader update
-10/31 - TIE File Reader update, no longer keeps file open
-8/15 - YOGEME 0.3 release, TIE effectively done
-8/8 - IDMR site redone to PHP
-7/14 - YOGEME brifeing interface added
-6/14 - MissionVerify update
-6/12 - Converter update
-6/10 - Converter update
-5/6 - YOGEME registry update
-5/4 - MissionVerify update
-4/3 - Converter updated with Rebel TIE player support
-3/9 - YOGEME battle interface update
-2/23 - Converter updated for better TIE-XvT/XWA trigger support
-2/10 - YOGEME update
-1/6 - YOGEME map interface update
====================================================================
R&D:

(All) Utility - YOGEME, specifically XvT interface
(TIE) Utility - TIE Sound Extractor update
(TIE) Utility - Unnamed project, concourse and cutscene editor
====================================================================
There, that should cover me for a while, now I can go back work instead of paperwork again ;-)
