To everybody out there who wants to add something to the Imperial Archives - THIS INCLUDES PEOPLE ALREADY IN MY STAFF! - please read the following guidelines:
1.) DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT! enter any Links!
The structure of the archives was poorly planned by the people designing that software, requiring everybody to know exactly where stuff is.
An example:
You enter your personal profile and have a few things that you deem worthy of getting linked. The obvious name "TIE Interceptor", your homeplanet, other officers names who also have entered profiles in the archives and other things.
Now, the problem is that you need to know EXACTLY where those things are stored, so you can link there. Most people do the following:
They enter the information and then do a "free link". For example they type their homeplanet like this:
That is all nice, but when you now click on that little blue ?, you will be able to enter the data - Alas, the data is now stored under that document, instead of having that homeplanet displayed and stored where it belongs - in the General Archives.{{homeplanetname}}
resulting in a link displayed like this :
homeplanet?
This is just ONE example of many that I have seen, so please DON'T do that. If you have stuff like "Lieutenant Commander" or a link to "Squadron XYZ", then please just add a free link but do NOT enter text into the link - either that or forget adding the link. I will go thru every document once in a while and do all the links, anyways.
If you have special information (for example about your homeplanet, to go with that example), contact me and I will tell you where you can enter that information (and create the pages for you
)!2.) DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT! do ANY major changes without my or the supreme commanders permission!
I simply do not have the time to check every page, every day and see if it really is correct, whereas pretty much everybody can change anything whenever he/she/it desires to do so.
So if you just go there and change stuff "because I think it needs to be changed", I will be over at your house, kicking in the door, before you can say "Bananot".
P.S.: - With one click of a button, I can restore the entire stuff to any previous state I want to, so don't even bother deleting anything for fun. All you get is a ban and previously mentioned visit by me.
So, if you see a grammar/spelling mistake - go ahead and correct it. I will thank you for it. If you see something that is blatantly wrong to even the greenest ensign, go ahead and correct it, but tell me about it.
If you see something that you THINK should be corrected, TELL ME FIRST.
