Discussion for untitled fiction

Post by CPT Bane »

This is a discussion for my fiction.

Read it here http://empirereborn.net/holonet/viewtopic.php?t=1220

It's based on a forest planet. Anyone know any good ones besides endor or yavin?

It's a sort of flashback, as the current storyline places us on the star destroyers...

I only got the idea last night, so plot ideas would be helpful.

And a title... I need a title...

Ideas? Questions? Comments?

Well for planets there's Wayland (Best used for Emperor's ascension), Kashyyyk, Naboo (Some, but not much forest), Arbra (If we found this Rebel planet) , and Myrkr.

And for an idea... put me in it and make me really cool :P

And they will add on to it themselves, giving a story from many view points.

Arbra was in a comic series, I remember it from a bit ago. It was a Rebel HQ after Hoth (quite a difference in climate :D). I'm not sure if the Empire ever found it.

Titles are impossible for me. Just look for a somewhat consistant theme, and base it on that. What I do, though that's not a very good thing mabey :P

Well, after hoth the rebels fled to the outskirts of the galaxy... It's probably a good place for the imperial army to have found a long hidden rebel base. Sounds good.

Yes, that would be a very good story line.
But as you write these, try to think about the knew ones, and if you have an idea for the next campain, send it into FA Polanski, it would be kind of cool for us to find a hidden rebel base and sluaghter them.:P

BTW, I am ALT Lee of Spearhead.

FYI, that forum is for OuterSectors roleplaying only... you may want to move it to the officer's bar. :)

No - they fled to *outside* the galaxy. Take a look at the backdrop in the final scenes of TESB.

Which is a case in point as to why comic books (or "graphic novels" if you will) are not so good to be used as sources of information! The reason we didn't find it is because it doesn't exist... as I said, the Rebels left the galaxy, they had learned by then to not have a single base holding all of their forces. From there until Sullust (before Endor), the Rebel fleet remained fragmented and dispersed (much as they believed our own fleet to be).

Ah... I was under the impression that leaving the galaxy was impossible using hyperdrive because of some field surrounding it. Granted, this is either NJO information or similar, but that's the impression I was under.

(and yes, I know about Outbound Flight... but would it have works had it not been destroyed?)

It is commented upon in (IIRC) Tales of the Bounty Hunters. It may explain why they didn't get that far out (relatively speaking) from the galactic disc.

Basically, the thinking goes: a planet has a lot of mass. It generates a large gravity well. A galaxy is a lot bigger than a planet. Hence the gravity well is a lot bigger. When you're in the galaxy itself, the effect is negated as you have matter on all sides. As you move to the edge of the disc (and note that, like the Milky Way, the SW galaxy is also spiral) the balance shifts so that most of the matter is behind you.

It could be theorised, then, that the Rebels only went as far out as they could do before their hyperdrives conked out. We do, however, then have issues about how the Falcon got out there - although its drive is faster, is it powerful enough? The Falcon is lighter than (say) a Frigate or Corvette, so that would act in its favour.

Maybe worth a read: http://www.theforce.net/swtc/hyperspace.html (Good old SWTC!)

Let me rephrase the work Rebel HQ. It wasn't so much that, as just a station. Nothing permanent was there, and besides, they'd still need troops stationed somewhere, they coudln't possibly fit them all in their fleet. They didn't really start to produce their fleets until after ROTJ, so they'd have to store their things in a few different places, though it wasn't necissariily an HQ.
