RETIREMENT OF THE SENIOR FLEET OFFICER

RETIREMENT OF THE SENIOR FLEET OFFICER
Fellow Officers of the Galactic Empire:
It is with great reluctance and regret that I come before you to make this announcement. After more than five years in the Imperial Navy and nearly two as Senior Fleet Officer, I will be stepping down and retiring. I can only assume that the officer who has been my right hand for the last two-plus years, Commander La Forge, will succeed me as Senior Fleet Officer. He has my advance congratulations and my utmost confidence that he will perform admirably and bring honor and distinction to the position just as I have tried to do.
This is due to a variety of reasons, first and foremost being items of a personal nature. Unfortunately, my “real†career as a naval officer keeps me away for extended periods of time and as those who witnessed my five month leave of absence can attest, it is a disservice to the Fleet for me to be gone for so long. With that in mind, I also wanted to apologize to the pilots in the Fleet for not having the foresight to do this earlier. I hope you can all forgive me.
Second, I have had several serious disagreements with other members of the Galactic Empire recently. Out of respect for the organization I shall not name them, but it has left me feeling embittered and wondering what happened to the joy I used to find in this club.
Over the years, I have been a very controversial figure in the Fleet at times. Many of you were not present for what I, and several others, named the “GE Civil Warâ€. During this time, when I was a commander and the acting-captain of the Chimaera, I made many enemies (and many friends) in my efforts to keep the Fleet united and whole. I have always believed that we should have a unified organization where our members work together – not against each other – for the common good.
When, or perhaps more appropriately “ifâ€, people look back on my career, I hope I am remembered for that: my loyalty to the organization no matter the circumstances and my driving desire to see the Galactic Empire become a better place; not just for the people that agreed with me, but for everyone; because this isn’t just “my†Fleet, or Fel’s Fleet, or Jansen’s, or Polanski’s. This organization, this Galactic Empire, belongs to us all…from the lowest private all the way up to the Supreme Commander. We in the High Command have always tried, with varying results and varying opinions, to guide the club in the direction we thought it should go. But the responsibility to take care of the club doesn’t just lie with us, no. It is the responsibility of every member, every officer, to carry some of the load, to work towards a goal, to “fight the good fight†and achieve something bigger than yourself.
And that’s what I take satisfaction in, ladies and gentlemen: the knowledge that even though I may be gone, the Fleet that I labored to preserve still stands, and will still stand, because I’m not the only one who cares. There will always be a Galactic Empire to come home to.
Farewell.

You've done so much for the GE over the years, and were always comitted to what you thought was right for the orginization. We didn't always agree, but I have the deepest respect for your dedication and determination to fight for the club. Your love for the organization was reflected brilliantly in your actions, and your presence will be sorely missed.
I hope you'll still come around once in a while to check up on us and offer advice and fond reminiscions. Go well and be well, Calder.

Another part of GE history leaving, hm.
I know we´ve not had the same opinion or have been very friendly
within all the years (to name the GE Civil War, the Striker War and
the Pirate Conflict), but I´ve always respected you as I still do.
You´ve done a lot for this organisation, for this I can just thank you.
I wish you every good that could happen for your further RL life!
I have the honor to be, respectfully, your most obedient servant,

Really, this is news that impacted to me greatly. Line Captain Calder was my commander in the squadron Gamma, in very difficult moments, both for the squadron Gamma and for the Chimaera. He realize dedicated work, which continued as the first official, and then as captain. I see his career with respect and admiration, and his retirement for me is a loss difficult to take up. I would like that he had taken other responsibilities, but his obligations in his RL are first.
My greetings to a big member of the GE. I hope that he should have big success in his naval career, and I am sure that who work with you will be benefited by his guide and knowledge, equal as we it were many of us.
Until soon, Sir.
