Greetings Imperials - Man your ships, gear up your suits!
The OuterSectors campaign will soon be starting properly and fully. During the time of the campaign, I would like to stress that all posts on the compaign message boards should be posted "in character" - a total role playing experience. These boards are located at http://empirereborn.net/holonet/index.php?c=9. To start, I would especially like to point out the messages posted on the "Official Annoucements" forum. These posts are all GE:ER Canonical, and all events are considered to "have happened". The outcome of the Campaign can be both positive and negative for the Empire, I trust that you will try your best to make the outcome as positive as possible!
The gamemasters are myself, Admiral Fel and General Jansen. We thus, cannot take part in the campaign directly, as it is our job to run and organise the events and dynamic storyline. We do not know the outcome at the moment, it is far too early to tell. In light of this, the Empire has taken on a system of "Brevet Ranks" - these are ranks assigned to our officers during a campaign such as this which are using during the campaign to simulate a more realistic organisation structure. Therefore, our two Naval Sector Groups will be commanded by Brevet Rear Admirals Calder and Wedge. Our First Bridage in the Army is under the command of Brevet Major General Jagged Fel. These individuals will effectively command their major sections without our supervision and will be able to make decisions for them - sometimes they may prove right, sometimes not. They will need to be prepared to have themselves put to the test throughout this campaign. They are also free to promote all individuals under their command to Brevet ranks of their choice, depending upon activity and participation as they see fit (as they are Brevet ranks, a position on the rosters is not required). All such requests shall be sent through their DivComm gamemaster.
We are aiming that each stage of the campaign shall last two weeks. At the start of a chapter (a Sunday), the story and simulations will be released, and then the Empire has one week which to complete missions, and until the Thursday afterwards to submit any other chapter specific point-scoring entries. Scores will be then be processed and totalled up, and the next chapter released on the following Sunday together with the results of the previous chapter. The length of the campaign is not known - it will depend upon your successes... Whilst we cannot diverge the exact method of measuring your success, a suitable example can be given: Suppose that a recon mission is given to Sector Group One. If only 25% of the assigned pilots take part, then the next mission (which could be "Destroy the Fleet") will be harder, than say if 75% of the assigned fighters took part. It is clear to see that more participation gives a better result for the Empire... Rules for completion are the same as for the combat chamber, and missions shall be released into the combat chamber after the chapter is over (where FPR's can then be filed by officers).
Scoring shall be done similar to the GE Domination competions in the past. Note that a high personal score, or unit score does not mean that the story will go in your favour. It is more than just points that count in this campaign. Scores shall be done personally, see the listing below, and also on a unit wide scale. Bonus points will be allocated to units for turnout, skill etc upon our collective disgretion at the end of each chapter. Competition will be betweeen members, units, ships or squads and all! Medals and a place in the history books await the highest scoring pilots or soldiers at the end of the campaign. An initial list of scoring events is below (more may be added in the new few days):
-- Simulation based points --
Completing the current simulation assigned to you - 15 pts
Completing simulations assigned to others - 8 pts
Completing campaign simulations out of chapter - 5 pts
"Training" on any non-completed Combat chamber mission (not campaign sims) - 4 pts
Creation of a new simulation as a result of the campaign - 10 pts
-- Other scoring methods (per submission unless noted) --
A chapter of your own telling your part in the story (allowed once per chapter, post in the archives) - 5 to 8 pts
Campaign based graphics - up to 10 pts (not recruitment)
Recruitment graphics - up to 5 pts (not eligible for other graphics category)
New cadet (sign up with your pin) - 2 pts
Your cadet graduates - 10 pts
One more note - we need to use this a giant recruitment drive for the Empire. As far as I know, no other online club has edited the timeline (please let me know if I am incorrect!) in order to advance it from the point in time they are in. We are the first... let's make sure everyone knows about it and we get the new cadets into the ranks. This is a prime opportunity to get the club back up in numbers. All members are encouraged to put that little bit extra in there recruiting skills throughout the campaign. News, scores and copies of other important documents will appear on the campaign site (still under development) at http://outersectors.empirereborn.net.
On a final note, good luck to all; as the fate of the Empire lies in your hands....
Chapter One will be released shortly by Admiral Fel, stay alert!
Dismissed!
