General Orzon was always jealous of the attention that was lavished on the rancor, and he is the GE's expert on clones as well.

I've been here for five years and I'm Captain of the Nemesis. Pick me, pick me!

Well you have to factor several things into your search, not just time in the GE. Several other things are very important, such as how the suspect get the Rancor off the ship. It would take someone with a bit more than Ensigns bars to make people look the other way, so therefor the perpatrator is most likely at least a Sub-Lieutenant (Navy)/ Lieutenant (Army/Legion) or higher, perhaps on the SCS staff. They'd need to be fairly highly placed to make people look the other way (or just order them away) to get the Rancor to the hanger bay, and take out a shuttle. And leaving would be fairly easy after that, if they were on an official mission or they were highly enough placed to commendeer a shuttle, no one on the bridge would bother scanning them because who would want to slip out with a rancor in his pocket?

This seems to indicate that the person is most likely a pilot, so someone with TIE, XWA, or XvT certification should be considered as well, because they would have to have some sort of certification to take out the shuttle. True, they could have had a pilot ferring them, but that seems unlikely, though not impossible. There's also the fact that if two people are involved it makes this a conspiracy and then we have a problem. True, the pilot could have been unaware, but most pilots would notice a rancor being loaded, or if not, might notice the change of weight aboard the whatever craft they are flying. Unless of course the rancor was packaged up in a container, but one person would not be able to do that alone and we'd get back into the conpiracy theory.

Also the selection of the target indicates that the suspect most likely has some sort of grudge aganst General Jansen. It may be that they have crossed paths in the past and the General cause some injustice to the person, or it may be something simple, like accidentally spilling caf on them. Even the tiniest thing could give someone a motive.

There are other important clues to be had from these messages and the evidence. I'll got talk to Doctor watson and see what I can deduce. ;)

Ah ha! We have had some more evidence back from the lab. Apparently the good Doctor has made a fatal mistake. We have recovered a boot that has been found in a rubbish shoot near the scene of the crime. The results from the lab have been, interesting to say the least.

The boot, on first glance, certainly looks like an Army boot. However, upon further inspection - Dr Narrabrant appears to have painted over a naval boot with acrylic children's paint... The paint easily scratches off to reveal that it was a Naval boot. All identifying marks have been removed, but this does seem to indicate that the culprit is infact someone in the Navy.

Children's paint?

Out of curiosity, was there anything else on the boot...like debris or dirt or sand?

What good would acrylic paint be to a doctor? Perhaps a means to hide unsightly injuries (in another routine search, I discovered a nurse who injected herself with anabolic steroids and used paint to cover her bruises; she was not affluent enough to risk Imperial-issue breast enlargements). Very curious....

One might hazard a guess that the paint was used to cover his/her tracks, to throw us all off the scent :-)

This would make sense...may I request a new search of the Doctor's journal entries? If the Doctor felt it prudent to record his activities there, we might find out more about the mystery of the paint.

SGM Mitchell, if Dr. Narrabrant kept a journal, we would have caught him by now. What if it was really CL Calder all along? The little "picture demand" threw us off entirely. Therefore, my next wild accusation is..... CL Calder! He was high enough to do practically anything he wanted. He admitted that he doesn't drive the Chimaera all the time, what was he doing at the time of the crime? My wild accusation is over, but I think I'm right.

If you say so.

I will point out that I hate the rancor so much that I wouldn't be able to kidnap it. I couldn't deal with the odor; I'd kill it outright.

Now, if the rancor was murdered I admit I would be a top suspect, but since it's only been kidnapped the evidence falls apart.

But I am beginning to think it was someone of a rank suitable to get away with this....not any lower than a lieutenant.

Uh, Captain... I think the rancor was killed... hence the rancor steaks being sent to the fleet...

Despite the bravado of "Dr. Narrabrant", the rancor steaks have yet to be delivered and I do not think the rancor is dead.

In fact, I think "Narrabrant" is bluffing.

*sigh*

Okay, not trying to spoil anyone's fun here, but - could we please solve this? It's getting more and more bizarre and, quite frankly, I never saw how these GE mysteries could be considered even remotely entertaining.

So, can we stop this? Please?
