GEER - Gaming platforms

Post by MGN Tsai Branet »

Well, as everyone knows, the Star Wars clubs, like ours, are somewhat lacking in membership, or with a very low level of activity, mainly due to the lack of new game platforms and also an inevitable generational change.
However, we also know that there are interested in continuing in this type of clubs, few, but that could still give life to these types of clubs, so here are some platforms that, although some are not SW, could serve as the base of the activity inside a Star Wars club like ours that wants to return to work with the roleplaying.
These are only examples, but will serve as a basis for a discussion if you agree, indicating also, those who want, some new game.

Imperial Navy:
Star Conflict
Star Trek Online
Discovery Mod of Freelancer
Elite: Dangerous

Imperial Army:
Battlefront 3
Heroes and Generals
SWTOR

The classic games, as Tie Fighter, XvT, XWA, all Battlefronts, Galactic Battleground, etc, would continue in our game base, as long as members have the option to play them on their PCs.

I invite all members of the GEER who still connect in this Message Boards to give their opinion, whatever, if they want.
It will be a good way to see our old comrades, and also to start some discussion about our beloved club.

Greetings to all!

This has come up multiple times in the past, especially as membership counts were dwindling.

In the end though, the era of gaming clubs like us has been fading for quite a while if not already over. I do not believe even the addition of non-SW games could revive what we had.

A little late to this, but to throw in my 2 cents I think the problem was, and still is, much bigger than the games. While I will always treasure the friendships and camaraderie in the GE and the GE:ER, I think that for all but the most stalwart, things are much different. While I still play games, my time for them is a lot more limited and I have a much more different view on such things as a 35 year old chief engineer than I did as a naval cadet 15-20 years ago.

I think it would be great to communicate within games that we might all still play, but I think to attempt to bring back "the good old days" would only end in frustration and heartbreak. After all, "all good things must come to an end" and the GE/GE:ER was no different.

But, if anyone is interested in reconnecting I still try to find time to play Starcraft II, Naval Action, Stellaris, and a couple others. Look for me on Steam with the username "Cornelius" if you want to. The avatar is our beloved Emperor.
