JA Machinima

I've been thinking that it could be fun/interesting if we created some JA-based machinima. For those of you who don't know what machinima is, it is the creation of a video/movie using a video game as the capture medium. Red vs. Blue is a good example of this. I've done some experimenting with shots (www.army.empirereborn.net/st.html - pardon Microsoft Sam :P) and JA seems very suitable to meet the needs of machinima. It's especially wonderful that there is a spectator mode that eliminates all but a little of the HUD and the targeting reticule and player identification can be turned off. JA also offers a very large variety of locations, both interior and otherwise.

I think that making a piece (or pieces) of machinima could be beneficial not only in terms of enjoyment during production, but also as they may be used as a recruitment tool once uploaded to YouTube or some other hosting site. If this generates interest, I am offering myself to lead the project and coordinate how it would proceed.

If this were to take off, we'd need three things: a story, people willing to join the game in order to represent the characters (aka be in-game characters), and people willing to offer their voice(s) to voice over the characters. Obviously, the story is the most important thing here and I'm not looking to reproduce RvB or anything like that. I would like to have it be an original concept. Initially, I was thinking it could focus on a unit within the GE and their story as they carry out missions, but this needs fine-tuning.

Anyways, I just wanted to run this by everyone and maybe get your opinions/ideas. If you'd be willing to volunteer either your JA â€˜actingâ€™ skills and/or your voice, please include that in your post as well.

I can help out. I have voice talent for hire if you want it. I of course will be free and I can write my own material as well. That is unless you have a script in mind for the scenes we do.

I forgot to tell you I am going into voice acting and will do a specialization in Anime. That doesn't mean I can't do American, but it is harder unless I get the retarded guy who is always getting into trouble before his friend who is always poking jokes at him and helping him comes to save the day. Its up to you and I am not shy with my voice by any means. Sometimes something might shoot out of my mouth that I don't want said, but it happens to everyone.

Also I have been trying to do something like this for a long time, but never had any support. I am happy to lend mine towards making your project a hit. Just let me know sometime if your interested and then if yes I will begin working from their. I don't have a job right now, so I have all the time in the world for practice.

My computer sucks too, but I'm really good with different voices, deep, high, bugs Bunny (almost), mexican, english, highland scottish, irish, italian, am-er-can, Gollum, etc.

CPT Halzedine and myself starred and voiced over this one exclusively, but for future episodes, we are definitely going to be needing more bot and voice actors. Also, if anyone is handy with a music-making software, a theme song would be nice too... :-P

Ok, so looking at where I would like the story to go, I'm in need of the following characters to be voiced:

-Senior Imperial Commander
-Stormtroopers x3
-Rebel Commander

That's all I can forsee right now, but there will probably be more. For the two commanders, I would caution anyone who is youngish because these voices do need to have age (not excessive, but you know) to them.

How I'll go about reviewing those who would like to help will be to have those interested read a phrase or line, record it as either a .mp3 or .wav and send it to coa@empirereborn.net. For the subject line of the e-mail simply put "[Character name] Submission". So if you were doing the Imperial Commander it would be "Senior Imperial Commander Submission". Feel free to submit more than one voice if you can change it up.

So here are the lines:

Senior Imperial Commander and Rebel Commander (with a sense of military seriousness):
"Have all troops hold at Phase Line Green. Alert all commands to prepare for a withdrawl."

Stormtroopers:
"Lock and load, ladies. This is going to be one hell'a fight."
or
"First Squad, switch to full-auto and give me some covering fire!"
