Imperial Collaborative Fiction: New Story. chapter One

Scimitar squadron. The elite fighting force of the navy. Comprised of pilots who show truly impressive skills, they have always been the most elite of the navy.

Or have they?...

-ISD NEMESIS-

-TRASH COMPACTOR-

How embarrassing, I had thought as I sifted through the filth, looking, searching. It had been a long day on the bridge of the Nemesis, and I'd returned to my room for the night. Or, at least, what my biological clock told me was night. I'd made a grab for the booze first thing, to help me relax abit. I'd just gotten my official Scimitar squadron medal, and I'd had it in my hand as I popped of the cap, and finished the bottle of whiskey. I then threw out the bottle, and everything else in my hand. Including my Scimitar medal. Realizing my mistake instantly, I had bolted down to the trash compactor, stopped the crew from compacting the heap of trash in the compactor, and waded into the filth. I found it, picked it up and started to clean it off. As I stood polishing my medal in the filth, something shiny caught my eye. I picked it up, and looked closely at it. The object I held was a data chip. It looked spotless, aside from the filth it had gained from sitting in the compactor. I remember wondering why anyone would throw out a seemingly brand new data chip. I waded out of the muck and trash, my face burning in embarrassment and rage as I walked past the snickering compactor operators. I got back to my room, and immediately jumped in the shower, both to clean myself of the crud covering me, and to help sober myself up abit. When I got out of the shower, I picked up the data chip I found, and plugged it in to my computer. The files on the chip were holo journals and video recordings of a squadron. Normally, this would be something I'd quickly just copy into my computer and watch later for entertainment, but this was different. THIS squadron wasn't just any squadron. This was a squadron I'd never heard of. The squadron's name: SHADOW DAGGER. Intrigued, I searched their name on the holonet.

No results. I contacted Scimitar Squadron's flight Leader, Rear Admiral Mike Mar, asking if he'd ever heard of them. Again, nothing.
I was starting to become confused, so I opened up the first log and started reading...

-OFFICER: LIEUTENANT SARISON KASERINE

-SQUADRON: SHADOW DAGGER-
-WING NUMBER: TIE/P 6-
-LOCATION: VSD II SUBTLE KNIFE-

-START LOG-
We just got our orders. We head out within the hour for Mustafar. Orders are that we sneak in amongst the shipyards there and set our EMP charges in close proximity to the fighter bay stations and the frigates patrolling the system, then move out to a safe distance and detonate them. With their shields, engines, weapons, fighters, and, most importantly, communications arrays disabled, the Subtle Knife gets to jump in and destroy the defensive forces. Gotta admit. That Victory Destroyer may be slower than the other VSDs, but her emissionless hyperdrive and cloaking device make up for this. Plus the midnight black paintjob makes her sleek and mysterious. Perfect for our job.

Adjay says the reason we're going in is because the pirate scum built these shipyards in secrecy. Which is exactly what Lord Vader needs. Facilities the Emperor doesn't know about. Heh. only reason we knew about them is because Vader's been secretly making trips to Mustafar since the founding of the New Order. He hadn't been out there in awhile, but he decided to send his secret apprentice there for some sort of Sith training. It was him who discovered the shipyards.

Adjay also says our time is coming. He says with these shipyards under Vader's control, he'll be one step closer to his goal. I don't know what to think. I'll follow Vader's orders. That's why I'm here. I'm loyal to Lord Vader.

I'd better go prep my TIE Phantom for launch. Better make sure the cloak is running smoothly. The slightest problem could turn this cakewalk into a disaster.

I couldn't believe what I'd just read. Vader had had his own, secret splinter faction of the Imperial Navy. I had to tell High Command immediately. As I stood up to leave my quarters, I stopped. If I told High Command, they'd probably take the data chip and analyze the data without me. I decided to wait until after I'd seen and read everything on the chip and compile my findings in a formal report to HC.
I placed the chip under the hidden compartment of my bunk. Apparently, the previous owner of this room had had some contraband material during his time in this room. Fortunately, the compartment was empty when I'd inherited the room, so all I'd had to worry about then was the data chip with the entire logs of a squadron that was part of a faction that technically didn't exist.

Nothing to worry about. I went to my closet, pulled out another whiskey bottle and a glass, and poured myself a drink. I held the glass for a moment, sloshing its contents around. Yeah, right. Nothing to worry about.
