Alliance Dissoluton: Imperial Directorate

Officers of the Empire:

The GE:ER's official alliance with the Imperial Directorate has been rescinded, effective immediately. The Imperial Directorate is now considered "neutral" to the GE:ER - neither friend nor foe. There will be no restrictions on dual membership in the GE:ER and ID. No members of the ID will be banned as a result of this change of status.

It seems that the ID does not see eye to eye with us on some issues, and the situation could not be resolved. Attempts at reasonable discourse on the issues were unsuccessful.

Their press release on the dissolution contains a number of attacks against myself personally and against the High Command of the GE:ER in general. In this matter, I choose the mature response and will not respond in kind. I have civilly requested that the personal attacks be removed from their statement. Should they do so, I will issue a correction to this notice.

We wish the Imperial Directorate great success in the future.

Due to a recent issue that arose on a GE:ER message board thread I have ordered the alliance between the ID and GE:ER dissolved effective immediately. FA Tiberius Fel believes that neither the GE:ER or its members have done anything wrong. However the thread illustrates that this isn't the case. In fact, it is ironic to point out that a simple post by one of their own long standing and respected members that happened to mention the ID in a good light somehow was the cause for other GE:ER members to suddenly begin attacking Lord Orzon, FM Selden, and well the ID itself. In any case FA Fel felt compelled to stand his ground and refused to honor my request for a public apology on behalf of the GE:ER to the ID. Since this violates the very tenets of the alliance between the ID and GE:ER I had no choice but to order the alliance be dissolved immediately per my authority as Executor of the Imperial Directorate.

I want to be clear that I believe that FA Fel feels he is doing what he feels he should for his club and its members. But free speech aside, when a leader condones, and then participates in, the slandering of a club and its high ranking members, then free speech is no longer a valid claim to make. I would not accept any requests or demands to punish FM Selden for simply defending himself and the ID from what were largely a lot of baseless and factless attacks. I did agree that FM Selden was a tad overbearing in some of the things that he had said, but I will not fault my Chief of Staff for his passion and devotion to the Imperial Directorate, nor that he was unjustly being attacked in a thread that did not start out having anything to do with him at all.

The Imperial Directorate has long maintained a strict "non-interference" policy with regard to the internal operations of other clubs, and as such members have in the past found themselves held accountable for actions or comments they have made against other clubs, whether an alliance existed or not. Sadly the GE:ER does not hold a similar philosophy, for if they did then FA Fel would not have allowed these comments to have been made, and at some point he would have ordered a stop to the entire affair. Clearly he did neither, and therefore I will continue to call FA Fel's leadership abilities into question, regardless of what he posts on his own News page about the incident. This entire event served to prove one point, effective leadership breeds effective leaders, and this instance served as a clear signal that the GE:ER still has a ways to go in meeting this philosophy.

Members that serve in either club are not banned from holding joint membeships. I also want to make it clear that I will NOT condone any mistreatment of members of the GE:ER that serve in the ID. Nor will I condone GE:ER members treating ID members in such a fashion either.

With that, this will be the last mention of the Imperial Directorate the GE will every hear from a member of Directorate High Command & hopefully any members that hold duel positions in both orgnizations.

As I noted yesterday, I requested that the personal attacks be removed from the Imperial Directorate's statement on the dissolution of our alliance. This has taken place, and they have been notified that their civility in the matter is appreciated.

This should conclude the matter. Once again, we wish the Imperial Directorate well in the future.
