Empire At War Reorganization

Officers of the Imperial Navy:

Following on the resignations of Captain Laithlis and Commander Mikfarlant, real life pressures limiting Captain Calder's available time, and the ascension of Drazhar to the post of the Senior Fleet Officer, some restructuring of the Imperial Navy was in order, with regard to the Empire at War units.

As you are all aware, Empire at War has been, until now, based out of Nebulon-B Frigates, termed "Support Ships", as their role is to lend support to larger cruisers (eg. Victory Star Destroyers) in actions and standard patrols. This has also had the downside of leaving our Imperial Star Destroyers (Chimaera and Nemesis) somewhat lacking in officers, as all of the Empire at War units have been off-ship.

Empire at War units have now been reorganized into Bridge Crews for the Imperial Navy's ISD Chimaera and ISD Nemesis. A bridge crew has several positions which are of note and receiving assignment. For the purposes of clarity, I will list them here and explain a bit about each of them.

Team Leader: Ranked Lieutenant or Lieutenant Commander. The leader of the team and the general supervisor of the officers therein. When the captain or first officer gives an order, the team leader ensures it is carried out.

Adjutant: Ranked Sub-Lieutenant or Second Lieutenant. The adjutant is the personal bridge assistant to the captain or first officer, and is tasked with communicating with the command staff. The adjutant also fills in for and assists officers who are otherwise occupied.

All other positions are ranked Ensign or Ensign First Class.

Communications: In charge of inter-ship, ship-to-ship, and ship-to-shore communications to and from the bridge of the Star Destroyer.

Navigator: Sets and executes the courses for the vessel at sublight and hyperspace speed. Uses the on-board navicomputer to perform hyperspace calculations.

Fire Control: Relays and co-ordinates firing orders to the appropriate gunnery crews.

Damage Control: Co-ordinates the damage control teams in the event that the Star Destroyer takes damage. Also responsible for damage control in the crew pit during combat.

Sensor Control: Controls the sensors, the "eyes", of the Star Destroyer - gathers the information necessary for the command crew to make their decisions.

Science Officer: Analyst position, uses the data from the sensors, ship's databanks, and records to come up with solutions to problems, find weak spots in enemy craft, and evaluate enemy formations.

All Empire at War Officers have received a new assignment (either to the Chimaera in Aurek or Forn, or to the Nemesis in Zerek) and their ID-Lines have been updated accordingly. You will be contacted by your captains in short order to familiarize yourselves with your new command crew.
