There just isn't a place to hide

Just hours ago I was reminded by a kind vice admiral (no name, no blame) that the mills of justice grind too slowly, particularly when it comes to announcing the conclusion of the most recent case. Much to my discomfort, the dear admiral is right (which, for the record, I'll keep on file to use it against him in a moment he least expects it). In any event, here's the report on the latest case for y'all to read and be deterred by from committing crimes:

In the case S-00003 - the Galactic Empire vs. Lieutenant Selden - the accused was charged with six (6) counts of forgery, four (4) counts of false statements, as well as two (2) counts of failure to obey order.

The plea entered by the accused was "guilty" on six (6) counts of forgery, on three (3) counts of false statements and one (1) count of failure to obey order. He pleaded "not guilty" on two (2) counts of false statements and one (1) count of failure to obey order. And I do realize as much as you do, that the counts of false statements don't add up with the ones he was originally charged with - I am only reporting this, don't kill the messenger!

It was quickly revealed that there has in fact been no illegal cloning activities going on - so the failure to obey order charges went down the bottomless shaft not to the reactor core, but the garbage compactor real fast. Yay for real people committing the crimes! Not? Ok, your call...

The rest of the charges, however, were found to be valid due to both the evidence provided by the imperial counsel, as well as the statements collected from the witness, who was called before the court. As such the accused was found guilty of... ah, no... I'll spare you the naming and numbering the charges game this time - you guys are smart, you go figure it out when I say: the rest of the charges.

Lieutenant Selden was therefore sentenced to 3 months of incarceration, effective as of Feb 3, 2008. His roster status is now inactive and there's no contact, no e-mail, no chat no nothing between him and the GE during that time.

The reason why I find this case slightly more serious than others is the rank and position of the person involved. A Lieutenant. A unit commander. Come on, people! Anyone who's managed to stay interested in this club long enough to reach that position should be way past the "Hohoho, it'd be fun to cheat, would it not?" game. We're all here to have fun and have made a number of - seriously - not very hard-to-follow rules to keep it going. The hell is wrong with you?

Oh and - if I hear one more guy give me the "Boohooo, I wanted to help my friends join/further the cause of/advance within the ranks of/blahbabblebabble the Empire" speech, I am feeding him to Jacob Junior. Personally. Unless you do something incredibly awesome - like e.g. saving lives - breaking the law for whatever motives still sucks and will be punished. You guessed right: I am not in awe of what was accomplished.
