I download the patch but, it still gose to a black screen after i put in the cd and its shows that pupup box saying loading...

Ok, everthings fine i spent 4 hours last night getting it to work. Its fine i am already starting to complete the BCC

Argh! This is the reason why I hate most tech support forums.

While we are certainly most happy to hear that everything's working for you now, maybe, just MAYBE, it would help, oh, I don't know... OTHERS now, if you cared to explain how you got it to work?

It's not like those of us who can help with this kind of problem don't LOVE to hear the same questions over and over and over again, you know, but just in case we're unavailable...

Well i have a duel screen though my tv and computer, but my tv hook up will not disply anything anymore. Plus my graphics card was still set to the default one, so i had to shut off the tv disply (cause that was the screen the set up was going to) and disable my default card and reload the new one in, then turn the tv display back on...and use the clone feature to put the veiw on both screen to show the set up for TIE instead of a black screen, silly me

FYI, The Nvidia G80 series chips (8800GTX, 8800GTS(640) and 8800GTS(320), are aparently still the only DirectX 10 capable cards on the market right now. Of course they only really satesfy one of the three requirements to be DX10 cards, but that still means they'll be able to run Crysis when it comes out. Of course there's just the little problem of having to get Vista to use DX10, which I'm sure we can all agree is like Buying a Ferrari just to get the keychain. Hmm, that comparison is probably not fair to Ferrari. Let's call it an Edsil, or perhaps a Hindenburg.

Such is Microsoft's intention. Whether clever people will be able to backport it against Microsoft's wishes is still to be seen.

Given the sheer amount of PC users who will refuse to shift to Vista for a while, it's inevitable that the backport will happen. As I keep telling my flatmate in bids to prevent him bringing the filth that Vista is into the flat.

Most computer-savy people don't even understand the whole DirectX10 thing.
First of all there's not a single, full DirectX10 game (or even on the horizon), with most of the games that currently have some DirectX10 in them, being more or less the type of game that could be described as "Yeah, we figured we could try a few of the DX10 features, but nothing is really THAT well done...ya know, just a test...".
Then there's the fact that even the 8800GTX would not be fast and good enough for such a game. A full DirectX10 game would need more power than even these babies can provide. Hell, I think I read that even two of them in SLI couldn't do it.
Also, most of the "DirectX10" cards are really buggy still. Read: There's almost no driver support for DirectX10. Even though the drivers exist, they are really not optimized, many DirectX10 parts are badly implemented. Etc. Another reason why I am holding back in buying my own new PC is, that I want a *really* good DirectX9 card and the 8800GTX is such a card. However, I hear that the drivers suck this way or the other, so I will wait till the drivers are good.
DirectX 10 is the only thing that makes Windows Vista interesting ATM and everybody who thinks before he buys, will come to the conclusion, that it's just not worth it.
Hell, in the last few weeks, there have been several snippets of news here and there, where big computer corps bitched at MS for completely botching Vista.
Most game developers say that even in the near future, most games will be DirectX9 still, because of all this.
