Your help needed!

Post by Vortagh »

Officers of the Empire,

The Yaga Minor shipyards need your help! Right now, I am beginning to work on a project that I have spent the last 6 months planning on.
I, or rather - the shipyards - need your help locating a source of 1/1000 or 1/1200 scale model ship kits. These ships need to be of the WWI to modern era and they *have* to be plastic kits. Not metal, not resin, plastic. The cheaper they are, the better (normal prices are 5 Euro or lower for these kits).
They don't have to be superb quality, they don't have to have great reviews anywhere and I don't care if you find a lot of those kits but they are broken here and there.

All I need is those kits (and loads of them).

I am aware that Revell currently has a line of those ships, but they only have some 6 kits and I need more than those 6 different kits, especially because they only have some 30 parts. Also I need a few specific kits, amongst them a King George V or a Prince of Wales.

The Empire counts on you!

Vort: You looking for specific brands/ships besides KGV class? Also, I assume 1/700 or 1/900 scale is too big for your purposes?

No, brands are not important at all. It could be super-cheapass-chinese-brand-X, as long as the stuff actually would look like a model when it comes out, and not like a lump of plastic, with no detail at all (detail IS important!).
And yes, those scales are *most likely* too big - at least 1/900. I would have to see a 1/900 scale ship to be certain, but 1/700 is definitely too big. Also, 1/700 ships tend to be too expensive for my budget. As said, I know that 1/1000 and 1/1200 can be bought for less than 5 euros a piece and that's pretty much all I am willing to pay.

You just looking for capital ships (and would that also be limited to battleships and cruisers or carriers too?)

Totally unrelated, but I just stumbled across this while doing some research. Vort, you should find this particularly interesting/humurous:

I'm wondering a couple things: Where the hell is Raeder, for one?

@Figure: ROFL. I have my Major Krauer (Luftwaffe) sitting on the back wall of my desk, but I never saw that one. :P

And in regards to the ships, I am looking at all sorts of kits. Whatever I can get my hands on. The more parts, the better. ;-)

Yeah, I've seen Rommel before, but never Donitz. He's just never come across as that dashing a guy, I guess - though I was always suitably impressed by his exploits.

I did not say that Karl Donitz was not one of the premier admirals of the Second World War, because he was. In fact, I think it would have been quite interesting to see how history would have turned out had his government in Flensburg been recognized by the Allies as legitimate, and if the Grand Admiral had been allowed to remain in power as Reichspresident during the reconstruction of Germany.

I merely point out that Rommel comes across as more....how shall I say...photogenic, than Grand Admiral Donitz.

Oh, THAT guy. When you said Donitz didn't strike you as dashing I had to call you out on it, but if you were talking about Dönitz, then that's a different matter.
