An Imperial citizen by the name of Xon Che filled out an application for RC and included a screenshot, which is always nice to see because it means I can graduate cadets right away; I enjoy an empty, quiet academy because it lets me catch up on my napping.

The problem is that Che gave an incomplete e-mail address: che_petrie. If anyone can tell me the full address or how I can get in touch with Che, I'd be most appreciative. If you're Che and are reading this, please drop me an e-mail at commandant@empirereborn.net so I can update your profile and graduate you asap.

Have Admiral Fel or Polanski go into the database and retrieve the IP he signed up with, then have then get the hostmask for that IP. You might try whatever host comes up there after the '@' in the partial mail address.

Any other ideas?

Send a mail to che_petrie@hotmail.com, che_petrie@aol.com, che_petrie@aim.com, che_petrie@yahoo.com, che_petrie@gmail.com and any other major webmail provider you can think of. Count the bounces. If there's one less bounce than there are email addresses, you've found him!

That would only work if somebody were to use their ISP account for the GE. I don't know how likely that is, but I say the Burton way is better.

At least my method doesn't require that you blantantly send mails out on the net and hope with fingers crossed that one works.

Suggestion: Add some simple checking to the sign-up form (eg check that @ appears somewhere in the mail field)...?

"Thanks for trying to join. Now please enter a proper email address."

Indeed. A funtion should be added to block incomplete, invalid or missing email data on the application. After all this is one of the most important informations :p

I vote for an applet that sends a shock arcing out to zap people who try and apply without a valid e-mail address. And one that goes back in time and murders their parents if they try to sign up with a name that includes "Darth" or "Lord" or "Admiral." Can you get to work on that, La Forge?
