Actually alot of the time the weatherman on tv is not a meteorologist but someone paid to read the script and they jsut hire the cheapest meteorologist they can find..basically means instead of me or someonefrom Oklahoma University they hire someone from some cheap public community college from the boonies with a bad program

I know this is of topic but sence it was sort of brought up. What is the differance betwen University and college and public and .... I guess private? in the US.

Universities usually have a higher level of education than College. Many colleges are state run.

Below colleges are Junior or Community College which give out Associates Degrees which are 2 year programs rather then the 4 year Bachelors. These are usually cheaper then college and have lesser admission standards.

Pubic colleges receive money from the government. Private ones get their money from high Tuitions.

There are also a number of specialty schools that award undergrad degrees in specific fields (such as engineering, nursing, etc)... these I imagine are all privately funded, but many have a very good reputation in their field.

If I'm not mistaken, the difference lies in the size of the school. My school used to be a college and became a University recently due to its size growing... so...
