2nd Brigade CO's Reports

Post by RES Mitchell »

From: Army Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Mitchell, 2nd Brigade CO
To: All Army Officers

Brigade CO's Report: 08/17/05
Current Number of Officers: 13
Brigade CO: ALC Matthew Mitchell
Brigade XO: To be Announced (not in near future, not taking apps)
URL: http://army.empirereborn.net (under renovation)

Current Activities:
------------------------
Outer Sectors: Chapter Fourteen: Hunter of the Shadows Is Rising
Officer's Review: You are REQUIRED to send comments on all of your
direct superiors in the Army to the Supreme Commander. For the 2nd
Brigade, that will mean General Jansen, me, and you Company CO and XO
(if you have one). Send your comments to the SC by Sept. 24th (his
e-mail is sc@empirereborn.net).
OS Orders: ERS-109 (GB)
Announcements:
------------------------
*John Foley Promoted to JLT and Viper XO!
*Staff Sergeant John Hunter transferred to Demon Company!
*PFC Tovakipni Promoted to Lance Corporal
*PFC Destavol Gin Promoted to Lance Corporal
*2nd Brigade Mini-Comp: Construct a Banner for our unit page!
Medals will be flowing!

Army Notices (courtesy of COL Fel's reports):
-------------------------
-You should know this part by heart now...
-Saturdays 1600-2300 EST (GMT-5) in #outerrim on IRC - InterClub
Training Event, come and play against other clubs like Rebel Squadrons,
Emperor's Hammer, StarVipers, etc. They host many games, including XWA,
XvT, the JK series, GB, FC, and now Battlefront. Stop in and have a good
time!
-Ladders. I don't care if it's even XvT, sign up and play your fellow
officers! Increase your Combat Rating, increase your skill, kill stuff!
-If you have GB, or any of the X-wing series, start flying Combat
Chamber missions. Besides the fact that you can get medals for the
amount you fly, right now you'll also be getting OS points as well. Go
for high scores and try to top the Elite Pilots roster.

Reports:
--------------------------
Dauntless: Yes
Viper: Have been in contact with JLT Foley, who shares my concerns for
the dissappearance of ACP Chu, who I am listing as AWOL at the moment.
No formal reports yet, and I have assured JLT Foley that action will be
taken concerning this....
Demon: No (not essential until you get a CO, all members report to me
until that time)

PS: Now that we have an independently functioning Brigade chain of
command, reports must be sent in per Army protocols. If there isn't much
to say, don't waste your time BSing. But if you have things to say, you
need to let your subordinates know what's what around here. That's why
you make reports in the first place.

Notes and Thoughts:
---------------------------
Been a rough start to school, so my presence has been much smaller of
late (note my going nearly three weeks without posting on the MBs).
Would like to make two reports per month, but we'll see how things go.

It's been a bipolar month for me. Last week was absolutely lousy,
nothing seeming to go right. But this weekend has been great. Our
cross-country team did great at our meet, work was fun, and I wiped
myself with a newspaper for the first time in my life. W00T!

I have turned in my comments for the CO review. Once again (if ArmyComm
hasn't made this clear enough to any of you, please get your head
examined), you are REQUIRED to send your comments on your direct
superiors to Fleet Admiral Polanski. It shouldn't take you fifteen
minutes to do this (if it takes longer, take a typewriting class).

Also, of course, get involved in OS. Get points, get medals. Prety
simple, eh?

Finally, some shout-outs to some former Spearhead comrades of mine who
have become Company COs in the 1st Brigade. First, a special "Buenas
noches!" to my good friend Branet, now commanding Spearhead, who is
celebrating Independence Day in Chile this weekend with his family. Viva
Chile! Congrats to Zeke Freeman, now CO of Dragon Company. Keep up the
good work, Lieutenant!

And, for the Quote of the Week, my longtime-loyal Sergeant and current
CO of my first command post, Army Lieutenant Glendon, whom I credit for
this little spot of brilliance:

A concidence berween Lincoln and Kennedy

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
The names Lincoln and Kennedy each contain seven
letters.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the
White House.
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both were shot in the head.
Lincoln's secretary, Kennedy, warned him not to go to
the theatre.
Kennedy's secretary, Lincoln, warned him not to go to
Dallas.
Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners.
Both successors were named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in
1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in
1908.
John Wilkes Booth was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are comprised of fifteen letters
Booth ran from the theater and was caught in a
warehouse.
Oswald ran from a warehouse and was caught in a
theater.
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their
trials.
A month before Lincoln was assassinated he was in
Monroe, Maryland.
A month before Kennedy was assassinated he was in
Marilyn Monroe.

BTW: The lucky newspaper I used for TP was the Homes and Real Estate
section of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Sleep on that one :)....

Brigade CO's Report: 10/12/05
Current Number of Officers: 10

Brigade XO: To be Announced Very Soon

Current Activities:
------------------------
Outer Sectors: Chapter Sixteen: Rise up From the Grave
Hornet Company: Band of Brothers Competition. Do trivia or missions, get
medals, get active! And ace that trivia, for God's sake!

Announcements:
------------------------
*John Foley Promoted to 2LT!

Reports:
--------------------------
Dauntless: Yes
Viper: Yes, and often. Great work, 2LT Foley! You have done a fine job
filling in for ACP Chu! You will be rewarded!
Demon: No (not essential until you get a CO, all members report to me
until that time)

Notes and Thoughts:
---------------------------
I am very busy this time of year. I just finished a 3,850 word paper for
school, and am wrapping up my applications to University of Florida,
Boston College, and Georgetown (wish me luck!). Senior year, busy, busy,
busy. Not to worry, folks, I still lurk around and keep up to date, and
I have been better about getting back to people (as Mr. Foley will tell
you, I have been slow to get on top of things). I have selected a new
Brigade XO to help out with things as needed, and that announcement will
come later once DivComm has made the appropriate approvals.

Cross country, college apps, and extended essays will be done by the end
of the month, and hopefully more free time will open up for me (I'd be
somewhat pissed off if it doesn't). You should be seeing me be a little
bit more active within the next month, work and life permitting.

Get in OS, and definitely get into Band of Brothers as well. ACP Branet
and ALT Felth have done a hell of a job putting that on. We owe it to
our Army mates in 1st Brigade (and our medals cases) to get involved in
that wherever we can, be it trivia or missions. Don't forget, all Army
Companies will be doing this comp. Do to others as they would do to you.
HOOAH?

I'll be around, and hoping to keep in contact with you all until my next
report. And I have finally updated my ID Line. HOOAH!

Outer Sectors: Chapter Twenty: Now the Story Starts Again...
New Band of Brothers Comp coming soon!

Announcements (a little old, but bear with me):
------------------------
*Rhyan Nexant is your new BRG-XO!

Reports:

Viper: Yes, and often. Great work, 2LT Foley! Can't say enough but to
thank you for doing a hell of a job!
Demon: No (not essential until you get a CO, all members report to me

Notes and Thoughts:
---------------------------
I thought my free time would open up a little more after cross country
season. Not so, as you may have noticed by my lowered presence lately. I
am always up to speed, and I have actually been more prompt than usual
in my reply times since my last report. However, my usual flow of
e-mails has slowed down considerably, often limited to Mr. Foley, who
has been nothing short of outstanding in handling Viper Company in
Captain Chu's absence.

I have (on my count) six finals, a 1500 word essay for Theory of
Knowledge, a 2500 word paper for Theatre, a one-act play, college
acceptance letters, Christmas, work, and a final revision of my extended
essay all coming up this month. I might just become immunocompromised
this month and catch full-blown AIDS through the air. Send me e-cards if
that happens...

Get in OS, and definitely get into Band of Brothers as well. ALC Branet

HOOAH?

Let's keep in touch, and stay safe and healthy this winter season.
HOOAH!

New Band of Brothers Comp! Runs through 12/30, I believe...

Reports:
--------------------------
Dauntless: Recently received contact from ALT Gin. Activity low, people
should start getting involved ASAP!
Viper: Yes, and often. Great work, 2LT Foley! Can't say enough but to
thank you for doing a hell of a job!

Notes and Thoughts:
---------------------------
My semester is over. Thought it would never end at times. But I made it,
and I got accepted to Boston College for my troubles (w00t!!). I got
deferred from my top choice (Georgetown), but I will try to pull what
little strings I have to improve my chances in the next round of
admissions, and I will find out from UF in a couple of months.

But enough about me. As I'm sure you've noticed, 2nd Brigade has
scuffled a bit under my command. For my lack of presence and limited
activity, I take responsibility for a good deal of what hasn't gone
right with my Brigade. Company Command has been outstanding for me, with
Messrs. Foley and Gin doing fine jobs for Dauntless and Viper Companies,
respectively. But activity amongst the lower ranks has been low, to be
polite. You all have many opportunities to make yourselves noticed and
become good contributors to the GE. OS, Band of Brothers (even if it is
just trivia), posting on MBs, etc. A little can go a long way.

It is the Christmas season, so the lack of activity is temporarily
excused. But as General Jansen and HC have stated in their latest memos
and reports, next year will be a year that will test our ability to make
good on the improvements that we have made in the past year and a half.
Together, we can help make 2006 a great year for the GE! See you all
next year!
