In the old days, when a distinguished officer retired, a big deal was made and he was given an honorary promotion. Stele and Pavz, for example, were elevated to line captain even though they had commanded the Striker as a regular captain. Thus, if you check their profiles, it says "line captain" under highest rank held even though they never held the rank during active service.

Many real militaries do the same thing, and in extreme circumstances, an officer has even been given more than one rank; though the only time that has been done was by the Royal Navy in the 19th Century.

I was in Beta Squad Under Rhys and Calorn was the Chim Captain when I joined the GE..

Heh heh. When I joined, Rhys was Captain of the Stalwart... and Calorn was actually occasionally around...

When I joined, we only had one ship and just Alpha and Beta Squadrons. Everything was better in the old days :P

Heh, Junon was SFO when I joined, though pretty shortly thereafter he got that FC position and Vortagh got SFO (though we know how long he lasted as FC...)

By his own choice, Captain - Junon asked to step down not all that long after being promoted (but before GA Daemon gave him any administrative powers). However, the move to the reserves wasn't executed for quite a long time afterwards...

My god....how long did he sit on the rosters even after his email address was invalid? Daemon was simply not willing to remove him.

Though, if I remember, Calorn was the second officer to join the GE (after Daemon himself). Still, that doesn't mean you can just up and vanish.

Wasn't that Bcanus Jupant? You are right, he was worse - I think he NEVER did anything after winter of '98. So he's far worse than Calorn. :P

Well, yes, Jupant was ISB-General for quite a long time (even when I joined), and when he "resigned" he was given the rank of "Moff" and I don't think he was ever heard from again. Unfortunately, unlike Calorn, I can't remember when it was he stopped being on the roster.

However, Jupant never served in the Navy at all, so there was speculation that he never owned any of the platforms...

Unless I am very mistaken, the whole reason the ISB existed was Jupant being a friend of Daemers who owned no plattform. :P
