Outer Sectors Chapter 17: A Brother to the Darkness

PSI Squadron was ready to launch.

They were only waiting for Commander Laithlis order.


The Nemesis was going to revert to realspace in a couple of seconds and PSI would launch to back up the Warhammer's fighters squadrons who were already in the heat of battle.

PSI's mission was the usual routine.

Superiority...

LT MAR felt it when the Nemesis came out of Hyperspace. He was ready to order his Squadron out.

"Red Alert! All fighters , GO!" Came Commander's Laithlis voice in comm system.

"PSI Squadron! Follow me!" MAR said.

MAR engaged his repulsors lifts and made his fighter moved toward the hangar exit. The rest of his pilots followed him without a word.

The second fighter to go through the exit , a new pilot MAR barely knew , exploded in a ball of flammes. An heavy Golam Platform turbolaser battery had opened fire on the Nemesis hangar bay. The Nemesis shields were strong enough to protect the ship , but not the fighters crossing it.

"BREAK!" MAR shouted in his comlink.

Unfortunatly , PSI lost another pilot who didn't have any luck and a third fighter who had sustained too much damage to be able to engage any opponents. Before all of them were out and regrouping.

"Flight 3. The platform's shields are out! Destroy that battery NOW!"

MAR was furious. Too bad that the mission objective was to capture those platforms. Because he would have dismantle them pieces by pieces with his laser cannons. And he would have made those scums pay for their lack of Honour.

"Flight 2! Superiority! Raven with me!" MAR ordered

"Acknoledge , sir!" Ensign Raven , MAR could feel it , was very stressed. Very understandable , when one see's one of his friends blow up the way the second fighter has.

"Raven?" LT MAR inquired.

"........ Yes sir." Raven took a second to answer.

Then he added.

"YES SIR! Let's give those bastard a payback!"

"Lead the way Ensign!" MAR knew that his pilot was bloodthirsty and that he may not realise it if an enemy fighter came on his six. So , he stayed behind to cover him. Plus , this would be a great test for this young Ensign.

After 10 minutes of dogfighting , the battle was over. Thanks to the Warhammer's GUNs , the platforms were disabled. Then it was a piece of cake to clean the remaining enemy fighters.

"You're ok Raven?" MAR asked.

"Never felt better , sir. Thank you!" Raven answered.

"No problem. You did well. We'll drink on their behalf tonigh. For now , let's finish to secure this sector."
