Designated Sharpshooter
-----------------------------

Similar to the navy’s “Ace”, this section will present an officer (or officers) who have proven themselves to be worthy of exceptional recognition and bragging rights till the next report. For this particular report we have two winners: ALT Wolfe and ALT Zala. Both officers have been hard workers and have wonderfully carried out their duties with a whole lot of extra effort on the side. Congratulations, gentlemen. Keep up the fine work!

-----------------
Friendly Fire-er
-----------------

While a bit messy in spelling, the purpose of the “Friendly Fire-er” is to showcase either literal or humorous failures that should not be repeated. The clear winner of this is the now RES Hazledine for completely falling off the edge of the Earth. Shame on you, Colonel.

General’s Command Center
--------------------------------
(aka my personal section)

Well, this is my first official report as Commander of the Army (pauses for anticipated applause). As I stated during this month’s meeting, I do apologize for its tardiness and future reports will (hopefully) be released on a more regular basis. I also wanted to mention that while my record keeping skills are pretty good, I don’t doubt that something probably slipped through the cracks, whether it be an unreported medal or discrepancy in the number of reports by units. It is of the utmost importance to me to properly acknowledge the service of all army members so if I neglected to report something of yours please send me an e-mail and I will do my best to correct the error before I log this report.

The two main projects I am working on currently are the Army Field Manual (which was lost when my HD crashed; shame on me for not backing it up) and Vanguard Base. The FM is progressing smoothly and will feature treatises on organizational, strategic, and tactical theory as well as a complete breakdown of the composition of the current Imperial Army. It will also have miniature additions to the Officer’s Manual (naturally, none will override it) that are Army- or command preference-specific. I can estimate its release at around mid-Spring, hopefully sooner. As to Vanguard Base, with v1.0 of the SWGEmu total conversion still not released and few cadets entering the Academy, it has stalled for the moment. This by no means means it is dead but certainly not as active. More on that as things occur.

------------------
Holiday Awards!
------------------

Now it’s time for everyone’s favorite time of the year: HOLIDAY AWARDS! So without further ado, let us begin.

To Lieutenant Colonel Longstreet goes a Bronze Seal for superb leadership skills while operating the 1st Brigade and his excellent proficiency in administrative tasks in spite of RL constraints.

To Lieutenant Colonel Fewrfreyut goes a Medal of Merit for assuming command of the 2nd Brigade without hesitation and for excellence of command since then.

To Captain Viper goes a Medal of Merit for his supreme leading of Gorgon Company throughout the year. Well done indeed.

To Lieutenant Reem goes a Medal of Merit for having a constant presence on IRC and taking the reins of Hornet Company very enthusiastically and doing a good job since.

To Lieutenant Wolfe goes a Medal of Merit for the faithful and well-leading of Spearhead Company in these harsh times and for taking over brigade-command during the BRG-COs LOAs.

To Lieutenant Zala goes a Medal of Merit for taking over acting command of Viper Company by which his loyal services promoted him to full command in which he has continued his valuable service under high expectations.

To Master Sergeant Burton goes a Medal of Merit for a continued high level of contact and participation despite his change in position and responsibilities.

To Corporal Anderson goes a Letter of Commendation for despite his troublesome RL communications situation he has built up contact and activity as good as possible.

To Sergeant Gin goes a Letter of Commendation for, despite his recent return, has made a wonderful effort to be active in the form of IRC presence and some great pieces of fiction.

To Lance Corporal Constantine goes a Letter of Commendation. Just arriving from the Academy, LCP Constantine gave himself a most appreciated head start with activity in the areas of communication, academics and administration.

---------
Closing
---------

I am continually asked this question: what can I do to be active? And while it might seem like I would tire of this question, I (*cross fingers*) don’t and the answer becomes more firmly solidified in my mind. So, to close, I am going to give you the best advice on how to be active and thus gain shinnies (medals), promotions, fame, and glory (well…)!

1: Report in. Whether this means sending a personal report to your commander or filing a unit report this is the most basic form of activity and is essential in appearing as a competent and responsible officer.
2: Come on mIRC (MSN works too): Logging onto mIRC and being able to talk in real time with your superiors and fellow officers is a wonderful experience. Not only are you able to gauge the personalities of others but you will become more immersed in the GE. A present officer is usually an active officer.
3: Play on the ladders: Playing on the ladders provides real game experience and also provides a conduit for building relationships with other officers.
4: Fly simulations: While not as good as multiplayer, flying singleplayer simulations is a very good substitute and is usually fun, not to mention it will improve your Medal of Combat!
5: Complete exams and get certifications: This will give you skills and knowledge as to how the GE works.
6: Recruit: Bolstering the numbers of the GE is always a worthy cause and will help you in return by improving your Medal of Expansion.
7: Other Independent Work: Write fiction, make graphics, and seek out work from your COs or create something entirely different on your own. This is all good activity. But remember to share your work, else it won’t count.

Signed,

Lieutenant General Ramius Antillies
