Tauntaun Tussle Begins on 2007-03-14!

Officers of the Empire:

As previously announced in the meeting at the beginning of the month, the Tauntaun Tussle will begin on 14 March, 2007. The Tauntaun Tussle is the very first competition between the GE:ER and our newest ally, the Bounty Hunters Guild!

So, without further adieu, allow me to introduce: The Tauntaun Tussle!

Greetings and welcome to the introduction of the Tauntaun Tussle, the first collaborative... A hand at the back? Questions are supposed to be saved for later, but okay, I'll say ask anyway.

I'll repeat the question: It was about the name: Why the "Tauntaun Tussle".

The Tauntaun Tussle. Sounds clever. It made you notice it, didn't it? I mean, we could have called it 'BHG-GE Competition Number One', but by that account we could have just called it competition number one four seven three two two but how would you tell that apart from number one four seven three three two? See where this leads?

Anyway, I'm getting off track. The way that this works is there are five events - Fiction, Graphics, Timeline, Trivia, and Web Hunt - each of which is judged by a team consisting of members of both groups to ensure impartiality.

*sigh* Yes, in practice it is technically impossible to ensure impartiality given that humans and most other species in the galaxy are by their nature biased in one way or the other. But the theory is that the biases on each side will balance. ...And before you ask, yes, I know that's just the theory and that theory and practice diverge. Stop asking questions if they're going to be like this.

Back on topic: The Tauntaun Tussle will be a test of speed, a test of skill, and a test of your investigative skills. Clearly a Star Destroyer could win out against a Tauntum any day. This should be no problem.

Actually, the rules do seem a little unclear.

Each participant has three events, one skilled and two timed, to chose from. The three events, chosen by the Judges, are fiction, trivia, and timeline.

How many events?
There are five events total: Fiction, Graphics, Timeline, Trivia, and Web Hunt

Does this mean we choose three of five to participate in? Presumably "Fiction" and "Graphics" are the "skill", while the other three are the "timed" (what, no mental, physical or mystery? Cookie to anyone who spots the reference).

Maybe it's just that it's 2am, but I don't get it.

Before (more) people start screaming TREASON! I want to point out that "today" is not over until it hits midnight.

Ensign Dannell, any of the events are optional. You may participate in none, all five or some of them.

Seeing that after midnight (which is at least here in 1 1/2 hours) IÂ´ve to sleep and grade damn oral exam for A-level etc and am back home ca. 19 hours later IÂ´ll loose nearly a whole day; so itÂ´s nearly high treason!
