Today, I and Ensign Vortigern had a land battle. I won, of course. The results were:

The screenshot couldn't grab all the losses on Vortigern's side, because it went down too far. I'm not posting this to proclaim my prowess, but to marvel at the awesome casaulty rates.

By the way, I lost 77 tanks to 21 walkers. That's almost four tanks per walker, so... bad.

That's how a real battle's fought! With lots and lots of deaths!

Well it was quite a long game - a war of attrition really. I have never seen such high casualty rates. I think that this proves that both factions are well balanced. Apart from the fact that it was my first land battle online, i didn't do very bad - however the Captain's superior expertise and skill in land battles ultimately ensured my defeat

It was quite fun though, and as the captain said it was like a real battle. Well i think its better to leave land battles to the army Congratulations Sir.

Hey, I did good, considering that piece of crap idiot AI kept screwing up. No "AI" is equal to a human brain. Besides, it's not my speciality and I can still whoop your asses, one on one.

Back onto topic... if the end of game stats screen included stats for infantry as well, it'd be even more gruesome. I must have mowed over at least five hundred stormtroopers with my tanks. That violates the Geneva Convention, but I doubt the UN will send someone to that galaxy far away to lodge a protest.

Yes multiplayer land battles are fun, but I have yet to come across a map where defense can be laid out in a proper military way. Sure having a proper defense in depth would prolong the game and turn the area between bases into the main kill zone, but it would be better than having a squad of Rebels just wander into the middle of your base after only taking light fire from a couple of turrets.

That's another of my pet peeves with EaW. Picture the following.

This previously uninhabited world, colonised by the Rebellion a mere two hours ago has come under attack by Imperial forces. A report is sent by the ground commander after the battle has been completed.

The Rebels have astounding skills in setting up build pads. Strangely, they did not construct any turrets until the attack was in progress. I wish to complain that the universe is being screwed up, since I've noticed similiar situations on other planets!
