Meris System Overview

Meris System
General Details
Offical Name: Meris
Suns: 1 Sun(s)
Planets: 6 Planets
Moons: 0 Moon(s)
Other Bodies: 0 Other Bodies
Description: The Meris System's configuration is unusual. Standard astronomy knowledge indicates that most solid planets are found in the inner orbits while gas giants are found in the outer orbits. Meris is an exception of this rule, for its two gas giants are both extremely close to the star Meri while its planets are found further out. Another unusual exception is that its only habitable planet is also the one which is furthest out. There is also a significant asteroid belt between Meris IV and V, leading to some wild theories about a planet having been annihilated in the ancient past.
Due to the system's position on the edge of Imperial-controlled space, a proposal came about which suggested that minefields should be placed along the most likely paths to Merisee from common hyperspace points. The cost was found to be relatively low, which is why the proposal was approved and now thousands of mines are deployed along likely approaches.
