Description: The Lanthrym system is one with a relatively quiet history. Since it was first surveyed by the Old Republic more than one thousand years ago, very little of interest has been found.
Most of the planets in the system are highly cold and deadly. This is a direct result of a meteor show which swept through the system shortly after its formation and lasted hundreds of years. Many of the planets (all but one) were so bombarded that they were knocked off their planes and slowly froze. Excavation teams have found craters and other impact sites, especially on the planet Lanthrym, for which the system is named.
The Imperial Department of Military Research has a facility in this system. The arctic climates readily available are perfect for developing and testing cold weather gear, and they also provide some secrecy. Trespassers into this system are immediately destroyed, a sure sign of the Lanthrym system's importance.
