Planet Meris I Overview

Planet Meris I
General Details
Offical Name: Meris I Type: Gas Giant Planet Coordinates: (15, 7) Average Length of Day: 44 Hours Average Temperature: 20000 Kelvins (19726.85° Celsius) Gravity Strength: Extremely Heavy Moons: 0 Description: The closest orbiting mass to the star Meri, Meris I is not as rare a phenomenon as the less enlightened of the galaxy believes. Nonetheless, Meris I is the most extreme of its kind, as it orbits at a mere distance of ten million kilometres rather than the customary 600-5000 million kilometres Gas Giants are found within. This places Meris I in enough proximity to reach a temperature over 2000 K on the sunward surface. This causes the lead to vaporize, which is what gives Meris I its faint blue comet-like tail as well as a bluish sheen pleasing to human eyes. Unfortunately, the gas giant's orbit is so close that no existing starships can close to visual observation range. Meris I is drawing closer and closer to Meri. Astrologists have predicted that the heat infusion once it reaches 5 million kilometres may actually trigger fusion reactions, turning Meris I into a miniature star. It will have a comparatively short lifetime should this happen, as Meri will absorb Meris I in short order. | ![]() |
