Interview with the Supreme Commander
... containing the thoughts and views of the Supreme Commander on the Empire ...

The following is an interview conducted by Line Captain La Forge, Senior Fleet Officer, with the Supreme Commander, Fleet Admiral Polanski, on 30 October 2005.

Line Captain Michael La Forge: You're currently the Supreme Commander of the Galactic Empire.  Tell us a bit about your Imperial career.

Fleet Admiral Sirus Polanski: Well, I started off as a humble ensign serving the Empire - nothing too special. Didn't get to see much action; was flying TIE Bombers on the VSD Vigilant and weren't needed all that much. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my days as a pilot but don't fancy going back now. Times are much more dangerous. After that, I managed to get a few key promotions to squadron leader and beyond. My career took off really once I got into the position of first officer. My first command was the VSD Dominance - it is unfortunate what happened to her, a good ship. After that I managed to get the post of Navy Tactical Coordinator, and then, I had two goes at Navy Fleet Commander... the rest is history.

LF: Tell us a bit about the shift of command from former Grand Admiral Daemon to yourself.  Was it difficult to get everything set up?

SP: It was a bit of a makeshift job at the start. I needed to get information up and online as soon as possible - the Empire requires the Holonet 24/7 to be successful. After getting it hosted on my own equipment, I managed to move things so that it was separate from our original holonet. Priorities were maintaining the fleet's activity and communications - that was not an easy job. Once things got redesigned and data reloaded, things began to run a lot smoother.

LF: What kind of new changes has the Empire seen since the change in command?

SP:Things have changed a lot. I am no longer the Navy DivComm for one point. My duties now really are guidance, planning and totally organisational. Its a lot different to before because then I needed to work much closer with the Navy. I totally rely upon Admiral Fel and General Jansen to report to me what is happening. Obviously there are many other changes - the bringing about of OuterSectors, addition of the other platforms and changes in graduation requirements. Rest assured, it's my key task to make things run as smooth as possible so I'm not ruling out any further changes right now.

LF: What was the idea behind OuterSectors?  How did it get started and how has it progressed, in your opinion?

SP: The Empire needed to progress. OuterSectors was born
from the idea that we needed more terrority, a greater activity level in general, and something to promote our newly Reborn Empire. It was geared to be both an exciting campaign and a recruitment effort, although I've seen little so far in the recruitment being produced from it. It all started with a small diagram I sent to the (then) High Command members, and a bit of disucssion on the message boards. Since then, I believe it has been a great success, although not perfect in a few ways, it has been one of the most exciting things we've every taken on.

LF: What kind of things can all officers, both new and veterans, look forward to in the future?

SP: Introduction of some new platforms is the easiest (and we shall make it as quick as possible), but I think we need to really appear more in the multiclub multiplayer domain. Only by that we can we attract more people to come to us to fulfill their needs. We need to focus on keeping people interested with new ideas. So far a few things are on the cards, but they will have to remain under wraps for now :)
